LIARS
So, a few months ago, a Direct TV / AT&T sales person knocked on my doors and talked to me about internet service and having a bundle with Direct TV. I told this person that I’m with Spectrum and we don’t have a contract and I will be moving to another State by June 2023. He said that will not be under contract and he can saved me some money by doing the bundle, which he did saved me some money, but at what cause. So today I called Direct TV to cancel it and just to keep the internet because I’m working from home, not watching a lot of TV and I will be moving by the end of Mar. Talking to customer service, they hit me with a $400 plus for early cancellation, I was like I don’t have a contract, that was not what your sales person and I we talked about. And obviously, they put you on hold to “dig” and see what they can do for you. Customer service came back and said that there is nothing that they can do for me and that I have to paid the early cancellation. So, AT&T and Direct TV, get your (Edited per community guidelines) together and stop stealing from people, stop lying 🤥 to us or you will continue getting these types of reviews from the consumers. I remember when AT&T used to be a great company, but now the only thing that they are bunch of F…ING LIARS that they don’t care about the customer anymore. Shame on you all for SCAMMING people mad 😡 😡 😡

NEVER trust door to door salesmen, they usually work for independent companies just trying to make a profit from you signing up. They usually miss out on important info such as the obvious two year contract. Next time, you should be careful about who you trust and always check the website before agreeing to anything. The directv website does clearly state about a contract that applies when you sign up.
Also, this is a public forum of other customers so we have nothing to do with what happened. You should bring up a complaint with the company that this door-to-door salesman whom sold you service worked for.

Door to door salesman are not DirecTV. Those are 3rd party retailers. Unfortunately the culture hasn't chnaged much in hundreds of years. Though there are some good ones, too many will be fast and lose with info to make the sale. Just like if you had a vaccuum salesman come to your door.
DirecTV can only go by the official order confirmation, which would absolutely show a 24 month service agreement. Any complaint or dispute you submit through the 3rd party (DirecTV will have listing on the dealer the order was placed for if you need contact info).
Being new to the consumer world you've learned an imporant lesson. Always be wary of door-to-door sales.

Oh wow, now this is more sad because if you AT&T and DIRECT TV are aware of these third parties salesmen knocking on people’s doors and are doing that, what you need to do is not take those orders anymore because when they came to my house, he Identified himself as AT&T and Direct TV salesperson. And what you need to do is to stop giving our information to a third party so they can come to our homes and talk to us about promotions and things that are not true. And yes, you are giving out our information out to third party companies because it is strange to me that a few hours before the salesperson showed up to my house, I was at one of the AT&T stores ordering a phone and a few hours after I left the store, he showed up to my house. 🤔 🧐 💭 Yeap, you are giving our info to someone else without our concerns. Shame on you 🤦🏾♂️

Many companies use authorized 3rd party retailers, including door-to-door. That store you went to might have been an authorized retailer as well. As a note, DirecTV has never had stores of their own. Though AT&T acquired DirecTV, even company owned stores were similar to 3rd party as they could only submit a new customer order. And door-to-door is absolutely 3rd party, which should always be cautioned on dealing with like any to the door salesperson for the last hundred years.
No matter where you order, even from the company itself, always read through the order confirmation sent to verify all is as expected. That way if something is off you can call and discuss it for clarification, modify the order, or close it out completely if it will not work for you.
And if you ever see Direct TV then it most likely is a scam as the brand is DirecTV. Some crooks out there try and trick people with that misspelling. Just something to be aware of with any company that you look into that the name is correct.
