Old Reciever and Termination
I had to terminate my Direct TV service and the lady said they would send a box to return the reciever. 2 weeks and no box so I wondered if they really wanted to spend the time and money to get it back. It is a D-12 300 and is about 13 years old and I realize a lot has changed over that time period. Is there a place I can find out if it needs to be returned? I really don't want to call them again, waited on the line for a long time whenever I call. Also I did recieve a final statement for $0.00 with no mention of any further action required. Thanks.

Same for me, 2 weeks ago I cancelled and no envelop sent for the card and no instructions emailed for the boxes or anything.

Below are instructions for receiver return.
During COVID-19 DirecTv has extended the return window to 60 days.
All equipment returnable to DirecTv must be returned through a participating UPS or FEDEX location. Items cannot be returned to a USPS post office or any other mailing service locations. If you happen to be greater than 10 miles from a participating UPS or FEDEX location then you may call in (1 800 531 5000) and request that return boxes be mailed to you.
Find FEDEX locations: www.fedex.com/attreturns
Find UPS locations: www.theupsstore.com/locations
You will need to bring your account number in with you and it is strongly recommended that you obtain a tracking number.

Take the access card out and hold on to it for 30 days in case DTV sends an envelope for it then take the D12 to an e-waste center or go to this website to get a label and send it to them.

The D12 is the very last MPEG-2, SD-only, non-DVR made. That is absolutely non-returnable.
SD-only service stopped being offered in late 2015. DirecTV has been shutting down the MPEG-2 feeds since April 2019.
Remove access card and dispose of securely like a credit card. The D12 itself gets recycled.
Too many agents, both before and after the AT&T acquisition, just don't take the time when closing the account to check models against the returnable list.

Thanks guys, figured they would not want an old receiver like this but I could not find any documentation. Appreciate the good info.
