Regional Sports Fee

Why are you charging for the Regional Sports when there are no regional sports being televised. I would like a refund of the $9.99 x 2 for the months of April and May.

I (we ... your customers) should not have been charged for that service during those months since you could not deliver that service. Essentially we have been charged for services you could not provide.

Thank you and I expect to hear back from someone on this.

First, this isn't AT&T support; it's a forum of users helping other users. Second, you won't get a refund because the RSN's are still charging AT&T. Their justification is that sports seasons have only been delayed, not canceled. Here's one of many recent articles discussing this: https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2020/04/cable-tv-firms-keep-charging-sports-fees-even-as-leagues-are-suspended/

I AM HAVING TROUBLE CANCELLING THIS. I NEVER HAD IT ADDED. WHEN MY HUSBAND WAS ALIVE HE NEVER WATCHED IT. I AM A WIDOW 63 AND DON'T GET IN TO SPORTS. $9.99 CAN BE USED FOR MY MEDS.

Packages Choice and higher include the Reginal Sport Networks (RSN) for you address. It is not an optional service, but part of your package. Since each area has a different set of RSNs available, DirecTV itemizes it on your bill for exactly where you live.

The only way to remove the fee is going to a package without RSNs which would be Family, Select, and Entertainment. Since you don't get into sports at all, I wouldn't recommend Entertainment as the only channel difference from Select is 4 sports channels (ESPN, ESPN2, Pursuit, FS1).

@hallmarkbodies

You pay the RSN fee all year for as long as the channels are there and provide any programming. There is no exempt from the fee just because of the change in what is on. TV providers do not own the channels, which is why they all have the clause that programming is subject to change. So until the RSNs update their agreement allowing a adjustment of the fee, then it is required to be charged.

You expect to hear back from someone on this? Sorry but you are not entitled to that. If you want to discuss with official support then you call DirecTV. Customer support is inbound, so there is no calling you. This is the reality.
