This is a customer to customer forum with little contact with DTV so can't do that.

@Gheezhik
No can do. Nobody here has a clue who you are. This is a public forum. That is why you created a anonymous user name instead of something that personally identified you and your DirecTV account.
Either call DirecTV and update your contact options for promotions or follow the guidance on the ftc article as suggested.

I am already enrolled in DMA Choice (listed in the article you provided) and still Direct TV sends me junk mail. I tried calling Direct TV and was transferred through three different customer service agents, on hold for 20 minutes, then the last call on hold simply hung up without answering. I tried calling a couple more times and was placed on hold again. This is incredibly frustrating!

If you are a customer of DTV then DMAchoice can't to anything and it can only reduce the amount not eliminate all of it if you are not a customer.

If an agent over the phone is unable (or unwilling) to update communication preferences, and a supervisor doesn't resolve it, then file a BBB complaint. That goes to the corporate level. Opting out of additional promotional mailings should not have to go through that hassle.

@Juniper Yes, it is a big hassle, especially to have to go through all of this. Some companies make it easy to remove oneself from their mailing list. Not AT&T/DTV. This does not encourage me to become a customer.
@shannon02 I am not a DTV customer. Never have been, and probably never will.

I agree it shouldn't be a hassle. On the other hand you can just toss the mailings received as they should have no tangible impact on you.
Make sure your opt-out includes TPG the new co-owner of DirecTV. Now when opt-out is successful it may take 30 days for the bulk to stop, especially if there are any associated 3rd party seller/advertisers that this info trickles down to.

By the way, I used this forum because some people have successfully reached a customer service person who was then able to help them remove their address. I was hoping the same would happen for me.
@DIRECTVhelp are you there? Are you able to help?

If you're not a customer they can't remove you. More than likely they're coming from 3rd party retailers look closely at the mailers they're likely not from directv
