replaced reciever now i have a new commitment
I cancelled my service then 3 days later i got a call from a directv rep saying they would take 60 bucks off my bill for 12 month if i stayed on and i said well my receiver is faulty and he said they could replace it at no charge I NEVER EVER EVER at any point was told I would have to commit to 2 year agreement. my 12 months are up and I went to cancel and was told i could not i have a 2 year commitment. I even asked i I could cancel after 12 months and was told to just call and renegotiate the same deal. so what do I do at this point?

replacement receivers do not start a new contract.

I don't think the replacement receiver triggered your new contract commitment. Most likely it was the fact that you started a new contract with a promotional discount.

Agent should not have promised you could renegotiate the same deal. Promotions are subject to change, so they cannot know what will be available down the road. Discounts are a temporary perk, not a way to make the bill affordable. Because there were customers floating on too high discounts for too long, the CEO made a public announcement that discounts will be reeled in. They are weeding out customers that are operating at a loss for the company. Makes sense, they are a business and not a charity after all.
Warranty replacement does not come with a agreement. An upgrade of equipment does come with a 24 month agreement. So a warranty (like for like) was activated as an upgrade in error, that is disputable with DirecTV. If the replacement was an upgrade then the ECF would be valid. Of course some 12 or 24 month discounts can come with an agreement for the same time, depending on the special. In any case the order confirmation would show what should have happened.
