Suspicious promotional phone calls
Has anybody in the past few days received phone calls from someone who claims to be working for DirecTV and offering a promotion of cutting your bill by more than a half while giving you every option that DirecTV offers if you prepay for 6 months over the phone? He has called once yesterday and once today. He seems to only have a little bit of my information but knows my phone number and which directv package we have. The moment I questioned it he hung up. When I call back it says it's DirecTV but it sounds completely different then when I call the customer service number. Different voice different options everything is different. I did a Google search of the phone number and it is coming back as a private home valued at $163,000 in Monterey Virginia.
I have tried to call the main customer service number to verify for 2 days but cannot get through.

That call is a scam. There is no such promotion. Scams like that have been around for a long time. It is also unlikely the call is actually coming from the number displayed on your caller id. Scammers use number spoofing.

I've been receiving calls for days now from numbers that begin with 612-704-xxxx, saying they are from your TV company telling me to call 1-888-655-2058 ext 1 for a 50% off promotion for the next 3 years if I prepay $270.00. Such (Edited per community guidelines), don't fall for it.

Yep, scam has been going on for years. That is why this thread is almost 2 years old (March 2020). It has ramped up during Covid times preying on people's desperation.
