Terrible
Direct TV is absolutely a scam and do not care about their customers. I have paid a lot of money and I am a pretty large account for them and when my year promotional offer was expiring I asked of they can extend the offer like Verizon Fios and optimum has done in the past. They refused even after I said I would be leaving which I am after next month. I repeat direct TV is very very expensive and they will not attempt to help you in any way to lower your bill after the first year. A lot of their reps on the phone are unprofessional and some have no knowledge of what they are doing. I called 3 different departments (Account department, courtesy team and management) and all said the same thing. I am willing to lose the nfl ticket to get rid of them. You can say I am just whining, in that case good luck.

Everybody is a new customer once. AT&T's CEO stated last year there will be no more discounts to existing customers.

Not extending your new customer discount is not a scam.

Intro discounts are a one-time deal. They are not sustainable to give them over and over again. This perk attracts business and lets a new customer try more variety at a lower rate to see what they will use for the long run.
Since too many customers were at risk of operating at a loss (some were apparently), their CEO announced that discounts for existing customers would be pulled back. After they deal with these problem accounts and finances stabilize it is expected that discounts would return, but in moderation.
Networks have increased what they charge TV providers over the years resulting in the prices we see today. If costs go up for the business then they have to follow suit and keep bills at a comparable rate.
Your demanding that they lower your bill and are a scam for not doing so is not facing reality. There is nothing that says you must have a lower bill or have the power to make them bow to you (financially speaking). So yes as such you are showing to be the atypical entitled customer.
Now if DirecTV is no longer a value to you, then fair enough. Either you reduce service to a cost you are comfortable with or go with another provider. But throwing a tantrum and crying "scam" when there is none does not work in your favor.
With that being said, I do agree that customer support has declined. Agents from the AT&T side understanding how DirecTV works was already a struggle, and now with short staffing from the pandemic with increased outsourcing to try and mitigate that it is not in a good spot. Hopefully in the coming months restrictions will continue lifting so people can increase the work force. Hopefully people aren't going to stay too accustomed to being home all the time with work at home options or milking unemployment.
We get what we pay for so none of us are throwing away our money. Still comes down to that no discounts for you is not a scam at all. Time to face the reality.

Give me a break with the pandemic. The company is a scam and is going downhill fast. Other companies can still accommodate people why can’t they.

You pay for satellite TV and actually get it. Not a scam.
Not seeing enough value in what you get or disagreeing with pricing does not make it a scam.
In any case you are complaining about not getting a discount like you deserve it. Reality is they have no obligation to give you one. As mentioned those discounts were pulled back. Even once they are available again, they will be temporary perks.
If you rely on discounts to afford service, then you cannot afford it. It is your financial responsibility (not theirs) to work within what you can afford. They are not a charity.

What are you talking about lol. It’s their job to try and keep customers and definitely not lose a big account. They are losing more and more customers. Customers beware.

Throwing money at a customer to keep them is not good business. Too much has been given out in discounts so they pulled them back.
Loosing money to hand out discounts left and right is not keeping customers. That is keeping moochers with no financial responsibility. I look forward to the return of discounts, but understand they will be in moderation.
So work within your own means instead of trying to tell businesses it is their job to give you the discounts you desire. Enjoy discounts when available, but never expect you will always have them.
Bottom line, nothing about you is so special that they have to give you a discount. If you can't handle that, then certainly go elsewhere.
