Total Choice Service Package

I have the Total Choice package with no local channels.  (Local TV stations are not offered in my area.)

I print out my current channels periodically because DirecTV makes changes without notifying customers.  OK, fair enough.

I printed out the channel package yesterday and found the number of listed channels had been cut roughly in half.  However, many of the no-longer-listed channels are still there; for examples,  A&E, AMC, Fox News, and the CSPAN channels are still there even though they don't show up on the printout.

Can anyone tell me what's going on?

DirecTV's website doesn't seem to be updating channel lineups for grandfathered packages. Because some channels have been included in more packages, a lot of those expired ones you end up paying more with no benefit. For example, AMC is now as low as the Select package.

I would check the channels you watch against the lineups of the current packages. As long as what you watch is in Choice or lower, then that should be cheaper than the old Total Choice. But if in Xtra or higher, it may be ok to stay on the old one.

@Juniper I just discovered that the Total Choice package is not even listed on the DirecTV website any more.  The closest thing to it is Choice, which is a sort of basic package.

The website is a total train wreck.  Prices for the various packages aren't listed.  If I want to change my package I am urged to do it online, but with no information on what a change would cost, except for the premium channels I don't want anyway.  I can telephone the company, but after navigating a robot menu with limited choices I end up talking with a guy in India who is working from a menu or checklist and who actually doesn't know squat.

Thanks for trying to answer my question anyway.

I'm bummed out with DirecTV.  I think I'll get in touch with the competition (Dish Network) and see what they offer.  It might be better; it certainly can't be worse.

Normally you would log into your account to compare pricing. But when you have a grandfathered package, it will instruct to call because the website is only ever set for current packages. Don't go by the home page pricing as those are new customer offers, and they are the All Included version of the plans on the new billing model.

Being older customers, we are on the old billing model. Here are the package costs for 2020.

Family $29.99

Select $62.99

Entertainment $74.99

Choice $92.99

Xtra $108.99

Ultimate $119.99

Premier $174.99

And remember Choice and up will show an RSN fee (which you should already have being on Total Choice).

You have to click on the details link to see the price after the discounts expire.

Problem is those advertised prices are for the All Included versions of the package, account for the different arrangement of receiver services. The OP has Total Choice so is on the old billing model.
