Why doesn't directv want to keep customers anymore?
I have had Directv for 30 years. My directv bill has gone up significantly since AT&T bought out directv. I have called several times trying to get promo codes or someone to lower my bill. I finally just gave up. When I called to cancel my directv... AT&T response was: WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO PROCESS THAT NOW? I finally just said yes. When searching for an alternate television service, the lowest price I could find was with SLING. Then I found out that T-Mobile offered a television plan... with all the same channels as DTV ($140.) for only $40.!!! They also offer to buy out your cellphone contract and provide the same cell service for only (wait for it) $35. per month!!! So I am thinking that AT&T actually did me a favor 🤔

DirecTV, like all cable/satellite providers, is losing customers. They can no longer afford sweet promotion deals as networks/stations demand more and more money. Good luck with that T-Mobile plan. Be sure to ask how long that sweet price will last. And how often they jack up their prices.

Of course they want to keep customers.
The issue is that you kept begging for a discount no matter how many times you were told no. Those promotions are great when available, but should never be relied upon or expected. Per the networks charging them more each year, and customers who have had too much in discounts, they have had to take a hard stance and pull most of those specials back for now.
So if you cannot afford without discounts then reduce service or go elsewhere. It is your responsibility to manage your finances, not keep begging a entertainment company to give you a handout.
