Why have Directv/ At&t not offered any assistance during Covid 19?

Why have Directv/ At&t not offered any assistance during this pandemic, yet they raised their prices during this unfortunate time?

Covid related assistance (wireless & internet) was offered LAST YEAR during the height of the pandemic:  March thru July 2020 I believe.

There was additional programming at that time but since TV is NOT considered a necessity, that was no payment deferment or assistance if that's what you are referring to.

There is an ANNUAL price adjustment every January.

@disneyluv06

First of all they have offered accommodations because of Covid. But that was last year and has ended. It was short term, not indefinite help.

Networks charge TV providers more each year so that has to be accounted for during the annual price adjustment. Covid doesn't shutdown the entire business process.

In the end DirecTV is a entertainment business, not a requirement of life (water, electric, etc.) or a charity. So there is no expectation, obligation, etc. that they keep giving any kind of assistance. The harsh reality is if you cannot fit their service into your budget, then you reduce service or cancel. A hardship on your part does not make an emergency on thiers.

@skeeterintexas  Thank you for your response.
@Juniper   First of all It was a topic in todays discussion, between others ,that I was curious about. I didn't see any assistants they offered during this unfortunate pandemic but from March to July 2020 WOW. Regardless if its considered essential or the "companys' problem" it is needed in todays world since directv/at&t  TV & INTERNET is combine it becomes essential since the kids need internet for school but again just a question wasn't asking for any hand outs or any "hardship on my part that would cause an emergency". Since I'm well aware I could just switch to some one else any time I feel. Again just a friendly question. Thanks for all the helpful/not feedback

Internet is an essential service so does have more options.  Being bundle with DTV doesn't make DTV essential.

TV is NOT needed. It is still optional entertainment, not a utility. Your desire and reliance on it doesn't change that fact.

There are programs for basic internet and phone as that is two-way communication, especially for job searching. But that doesn't transfer to TV service as is not the same medium.

Sorry but the reality isn't changing.

And the question received a simple answer. I am sorry it is not one you wanted, but it does clarify the situation. Assistance was provided, but for limited time. And it was further explained that TV is considered entertainment, not a necessity as you have claimed, which is why no further assistance is expected.
