Can my sleep timer work with the remote?

Hello,

We just had our DirectTV installed today, and I can't find a way to set the tv/receiver to turn itself off at night.  Is there some way to make it work?  If not, can I continue to use my tv's remote to set up the sleep timer?  If I do that, it seems it will only be turning the TV off, and not the receiver.
