Cancelled DTV, waiting on recovery kit.

We cancelled DTV on the 18th of this month, we started with Primestar in 1989 and have got transferred to DTV and now ATT since buyouts. To make a long story short we decided that we weren't going to pay more for a cable bill that our electric bill is. We got an email stating our order has been shipped, which says it's a recovery kit. When I track this shipment it says UPS has no such order on file. With everything I've seen about getting charged for non-returned equipment it makes me wonder if this is just ATT's way of scamming more money they don't deserve. I was on hold for 2 hours waiting to cancel, which I wouldn't have done if the rep. would have tried to help lower the bill, but she just said ok I'll cancel it and hung up.

DTV uses FedEx when they have to ship a return kit but since DTV now uses AT&Ts return policy of taking returnable receivers to UPS/FedEx stores they don't send return kits unless you are 10 or more miles from one.

AT&Ts CEO stated awhile ago that he would rather lose customers then run at a loss by giving discounts.

you need to drop it off with a participating fedex or ups store, make sure you have your account number and get a tracking number ,they will pack and ship it at no charge to you below are links to find a participating center, if you are more than 10 miles from a participating center then call and inform them your more than ten miles from a participating location and they will send boxes and labels.

fedex.com/attreturns or theupsstore.com/locations.

It looks to me like they already know I am more than 10 miles away from an outlet as they sent me a tracking number, but it is invalid.

I was told I would be contacted by directv about returning my equipment. I never was and CANNOT get through by phone. I don’t want to be charged for it so I’m at a loss as to what to do.
