Direct tv in my RV out of state

What DirecTV receiver model number are you using?

Note that your King Pro dish is obsolete. DirecTV is discontinuing SD/MPEG2 satellite channels during 2019. You'll need to replace that dish with Winegard Trav'ler or DirecTV Slimline HD dish.

Receiver is an H24-100R

i have heard conflicting reports on the satellite being obsolete. I sure hope not as we just bought it!  Was told it will still be good for years, just no HD. But maybe that is the issue.

It's not the 101ºW satellite that's "obsolete". It's that DirecTV is discontinuing MPEG2/SD channels from that satellite during 2019. While you might still get a few HD/MPEG4 channels from that satellite using that dish, it won't be many. You need to upgrade to a Trav'ler or Slimline dish.

Got it. So that can’t be the issue as I would at least see something. All I get is 771 as not reading the satellite. Any ideas?

DIRECTV Error Code 771is an error code that means your receiver is having trouble communicating with your satellite dish.

could be a bad cable, bad connector, ect

did it ever work?
