Equipment return

On May 15th, I went to a local UPS store to drop off a Directv receiver that I had canceled. How long does it take to be notified that the received was received by Directv/AT&T? I don't want to pay for the non return of the HD receiver that I did drop off. I did this because the box that was sent was sent to an address that I am longer at (they are sending one to my current address but I already dropped it off as an AT&T rep over the phone said I could do). I do have the receipt for receiver.

Sending a prepaid return box to your physical service address is the old process. Only should be used if over 10 miles away from a participating shipping location. For reference here is the new process.

How To Return The Equipment

Go to a FedEx or UPS location with your account #. No need to bring a box or label, the equipment will be boxed it up & shipped out at no charge. The process takes less than 5 minutes.

Find FedEx Office locations at www.fedex.com/attreturns.

Find The UPS Store locations at www.theupsstore.com/locations.

Notification is that you aren't billed a non-return fee (NRF). Normally the time to return is 21 days, but per Covid-19 they are temporarily increasing that to 60 days. As long as you kept your receipt from UPS, and that your billing address with DirecTV is where you are now (or at least you have mail being forwarded), then you should be covered if there are any issues with counting the return.

Do I get a notification that the receiver (and later the other stuff like the cords and stuff that was hooked with the receiver) was received? I did when I returned the UVerse modem.

As I recall there is no notice of DirecTV equipment received.

Cords are not required. Power cord of course they appreciate, but I believe they replace a lot of them as those cords get worn over time and any furniture moving, animal interaction, etc.

What model was the box? Some they accept return of are not required so will not bill a non-return fee regardless.

It was an H25-500 (it was pretty old).

H25 is not old. In fact that is the only non-Genie receiver that is returnable (required). This is because it is SWM-only like the Genies. All other non-Genie receivers are able to use both SWM and the outdated multiswitch.
