Genie remote

Cannot pair old or new genie remote, tried all the combination settings, 961,981, channel up etc, when trying to use enter button it starts blinking green for about 50 times before it goes off, was just replacing old one with new but now old won’t pair either, this is in a client room

Hi, we understand that not being able to pair your new genie remote can be a significant concern, but I'm here to help. For Genie Remote (RC71, RC71B, RC72, or RC73), make sure to follow these steps:

1. Make sure the Genie Remote has RF enabled.
2. On the remote, select Menu > Settings > Remote Control > Pair/Program Remote > Program TV.
 - Enter your television brand and mode.
 - If the screen shows Code Transmission Failed, select Try Again.
3. An OSD displays prompting you to confirm the code works by pressing VOL+.
- If code does not work, you should select Try Next Code.
4. Once the TV is successfully programmed, you may program an audio devices if desired.

On the other hand, by clicking this link: https://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/content/remote_codes2
you'll be able to select your remote control model and get more codes to pair your new control.

Please let us know how it goes.

Press and hold mute and enter until you see a message that your Remote is now setup for rf, then go from there to pair it to the tv

Is there no voice demand on the remote?

You must not be a DIRECTV satellite subscriber. No, for the almost 30 years DIRECTV has been in business, their receivers have never had voice-activated remotes. This is Until now, of course, because the new Gemini receiver they launched to work alongside a HS17 server has a voice-activated remote.

What are the exact model numbers of the remote and the box you are trying to connect it with?

Have you tried resetting the DirecTV box itself? (or the main Genie if this is a Client)

DirecTV has not had voice control until the recent (limited markets) "Gemini" box.

However, having voice control or not does not have anything to do with the remote pairing with the DirecTV box to begin with. If you have questions or issues beyond pairing a remote to the DirecTV box (what this topic is about), then please start a new thread specific to your situation.

Make sure the IR sensor is not blocked on the Genie. The remote needs line of sight to the IR sensor to pair to RF mode as well as to be able to work in IR mode.
