H23-600 Receiver dated 2009

I just received a new receiver by DirectTV.  I did not get a return address label when getting the new one.  Do I need to return the old  receiver as per instructions?  I brought the old receiver to our local FedEx office and they say they do not know what to do with it?  And refused to take it unless I paid for the return.  I also do not know where to send it.

Please advise

Hello @bruce_brunette

It's certainly not the intention of AT&T to have you go through any troubles on attempt to return equipment. We're glad to address this through our Forum and thank you for reaching out.

The H23 models are non recoverable. That model is an older DIRECTV receiver and we're no longer requesting recovery. Be assured, our systems recognize which models are recoverable so you won't be surprised by any charges.

If you have a local option for electronics recycling, that is recommend. We also have a way for you to recycle should you not have that option. You can print a USPS label by using our recycling web site to send equipment to a partner e-recycling center.

We hope that you find this information helpful. Thanks again and should you have any outstanding questions or concerns, let us know.

The only HD non-DVR that is returnable would be the H25. Everything earlier, like your H23, is non-returnable.

This is because the H25 is SWM-only like all Genie models. All prior models can use the older multiswitch. So Anything that could also use the old system they don't want back anymore.
