HD Channels

Which satellite (99-101-103) transmit HD channels.  Is there a source that identifies which satellites beam which channels?

Yes, there is a complete and very large spreadsheet. Why do you need to know?

In tuning the dish I want to “favor” either 99 or 101 depending on which might have the HD channels I watch most.

There is no way to tune only one sat, what you do is peak the 101 in the high 90s or 100 then dither the other 2, all HD is on the 99,103 sats.

There are actually currently a couple HD channels on 101 (CNN, HGTV, MSNBC, and a couple more). Obviously, though, you need to get 99 and 103 peaked.

Yes, you can't "favor" a particular set of channels. You need to align your dish, first on 101 (signals shoul be mainly in the 90s) and then by fine adjustments on 99/103. There are several videos on youtube showing you how to do this

Thank you all.  Where do I find the spreadsheet that lists the source satellites for HD signals?

Remember, DirecTV is shutting down their MPEG-2/SD-only feeds. So all boxes and receiving dish must receive DirecTV's MPEG-4 broadcasts. It is an HD world now.

Thank you Juniper. Once you are spoiled with HD quality the SD just doesn’t cut it anyway.
