HD Receiver Playback Anomaly

It's not a big deal, but I noticed when I start the playback on my H21 from content recorded on my HR20 it starts "at the very beginning" unlike when played from the HR20. What I mean is that when the HR20 records a scheduled program it includes a 5-10 second "buffer" of content at the beginning, that when you play it back on the HR20 the playback begins where the scheduled progam starts, not at the physical beginning of the recording. If you were to "immediately" hit rewind you would notice that the HR20 would actually back up and begin playing at the "physical beginning" of the recording and you would view that extra 5-10 seconds I first eluded to that you did not see when you clicked on Play from the Playlist Menu. Has anyone else noticed this, or was this just a fluke(I admit I haven't had enough time since opting in my H21 to "test" very much.

Yes, it's true. Several months ago DirecTV changed the DVR software to start recording a bit early and keep recording a bit longer than the true show time, provided that there are no preceeding or following program/tuner conflicts. When you view the recording on that DVR that recorded it, you don't see this added portion before and after the recording (unless you rewind or FF into it). But you do see it when view using a remote DVR or Receiver.

litzdog911,
Always nice to get a sanity check from you TECHKNOWGUIDE's(at my age I can never tell if maybe senility is setting in and it's my mind playing tricks on me:0)
So now for the "deep" technical question as to "why" this happens......is the remote DVR/receiver simply requesting the host DVR to "play the selection and stream the output to me"(in other words is the actual content being "played" on the host DVR) or is the remote DVR/receiver requesting the host DVR to "send me the file, I will play it"???? It ssems for it to "play back differently", it would have to be scenario#2.

Don't know exactly how it works. I'm just glad it does.
