How can I watch my own DVDs ?

We just joined DIRECTV yesterday, but upon reviewing the settings on the remote control, we cannot find a way to change to the port that the DVD player is connected to.

please advise. Thank you in advance.

If you have the new RC7X series (Genie or "peanut" style) remote, then look at the lower right corner. The ENTER key says INPUT next to it. Hold the key down and it will allow you to click through your inputs, or depending on TV might pull up your TV's INPUT menu selection screen.

You're welcome. I hope that in future models they change the INPUT label a little to make it more noticeable as this is not an uncommon question.

@Bedazzled

Glad this old thread helped.

Unlike the prior remotes, the RC7X wasn't built to be true universal. So it is for controlling the DirecTV box and to a limited extent, the TV. Once on the correct input, you use the DVD player's own remote to go through the menu and start playing the DVD.

If you mean you want the DVD player to autoplay from the beginning, that is a question for the DVD manual to see if it has such a feature (and if the specific DVD you put in supports it).
