How to stop the reciever from searching for Wireless Networks?
I have an old uncle who believes there is a hacker stealing his Directv. He showed me how he knows. It is actually WiFi signals such as our home wifi and our neighbors. He believes they are all signals connected to his reciever (none of them are including the home wifi). This has been going on for the past 7 years and since I now live with him I want to finally put an end to this.
So my questions are; How do I remove the Wifi module from the reciever? Or is there a way for me to block the reciever from searching for wireless networks?

You cannot turn off the WiFi itself. All you can do is reset the network defaults so it forgets the name and password of a connection.
Any connection has to be done from the Genie (HR54) itself. You cannot tell another device to connect with the Genie as it is not designed to receive a connection request.
I understand the frustrations of having an older relative who does not or cannot comprehend the current state of technology so locks in a falsehood in their head. I wish you luck.

The built in WiFi can only be used to connect to the internet, it can't broadcast the DTV video/audio signal and it only searches for the internet when you try to connect it.

I just want to also add, the entire family including me explained what WiFi is and how it works. That those signals he sees are not broadcasting anything to anywhere or connected to this Directv reciever. My uncle refuses to listen which is why I want to know if there is a work around. He wont listen to Directv experts either since hes so convinced.

If your uncle refuses to listen and thinks he knows different than the company, independent experts, or just the world in general then sorry I don't have any solution. Unless it is an issue that requires treatment, he is only stubborn for stubbornness sake.

The only way -is to direct connect a LAN cable from your switch or ROUTER -once that connection is made it will no longer look of any wireless connection.
