Need code that actually WORK!!!!

I just upgraded my standard DVR to HD DVR.  Now I wish I could find TV & DVD codes that actually WORK.

I can get the TV to turn on/off, no biggie.  But with my last remote the "TV INPUT" function worked and allowed me to change between inputs for game controllers, Camcorder connections, etc.  Now, nada!

I also cannot find a code that will actually allow me to play a DVD in my DVD player, turn on & off, change channel, yup, but play, stop, FFWD - NOPE!

TV is an LG 37LH40 - i've tried every code I could find and even did the search for 10 min with no luck

DVD is a Magnavox DVD/VCR combo.

Anybody have any clues?  I've searched this forum to death and can't find anything.
