Neighbor somehow recording on my system and deleting my programs

We are in our motorhome in an RV park. When very close neighbors come to town for 6 months at a time, all of the sudden we get all these shows being recorded on our DirectTV that we didn’t record. Also, the programs we have recorded are DELETED! This only happens when they “move in” beside us for part of the year.

can anyone help?! I’ve called AT&T and they have no answers!

You are experiencing a bleeding over effect of the service. It would be suggested to not have your DirecTV service connected to the shared internet.

Menu > Settings > Internet > Advanced and reset network defaults. That way your DirecTV box will forget the router name and password for the camp ground's internet.

DirecTV wasn't built to have different accounts connecting to the same internet access. So it was mixing up your equipment and theirs.

Are they sharing your dish?  Or your internet?

Not that I’m aware of. Our motorhome has a Wineguard satellite dish (standard) and we have DirectTV box in our living room and one in our bedroom - controlled with their own remotes.

only time this happens with our recorded programs is when they are in town.

I tried to call AT&T and explain the problem and what we think is happening and absolutely got NO help! I don’t think they understood.

Ok, so I just verified they share internet - we all log on to the campground WiFi.

Ok if we disconnect from the internet, how are we able to watch other streaming things? Sorry, I’m not very tech savvy!

would we only connect when we want to watch streaming and then disconnect? If we disconnect, are we still able to record shows on our direct tv? And also on the “on demand” ?

Basically your system and theirs are on the same network.  It's a complex question, because the answer depends on what sort of configuration your temporary neighbors are using. Does this happen with anyone else in your RV park?  Are you using "whole home" to allow your boxes to share recordings?

What boxes do you have (model numbers)? If you go to menu>whole home settings what's listed as networked boxes?

Disconnecting DirecTV from the internet will not affect your other streaming devices (computer, Roku, Firestick, game console, etc.). But you will not be able to access DirecTV's On Demand. Connecting later may mean a huge download at start so that everything is up to date, so may take some time for content to be available.

DirecTV's equipment connected to internet is only built for at home on your own connection. It was not designed for travel where you connect to a shared network, or even a shared network at home (say 2 households on same property or even in same building).

So the only fix is for you or your temporary neighbors to have DirecTV disconnected from the internet while you are both there.

Well, I guess there’s no fix. Our “shared” is off and our remote is titled “LR” for living room remote — and what’s crazy is that a lot of these recordings say they are from “LR remote” but we’re not doing it!

I just noticed our part time neighbors have a direct tv dish mounted on their power pole.

I don’t know what else to do. I sure do appreciate y’all trying to give me some advice! It’s just frustrating to record shows and then see that they’ve all been deleted.

The only "fix" is to not have DirecTV connected to the internet. That is the only way the bleed over can occur. They cannot access your service through the satellite.

Can you or someone please affirm if I can use the subsequent cable for ATT Fiber Optic Internet, and more importantly, if I can use this cable to run in-wall here and inside the attic? I am in Northern California.
