Taking my reciever Camping

We had Direct TV installed back in July, when we did we bought an additional dish to take with us when we went camping. At home we have the whole home DVR. We have been trying to hook our extra dish up here at home to work out all the bugs but have not been having much success. We can't get any signal at all. I am sure whatever we are not doing right is something completely stupid. We had Dish Network before this and we used to take that along with us so we are sort of experienced in this.
