There's a problem communicating with the satellite dish (775) code HR44 Genie
I purchased a new Web os tv and swapped the input cables from the old tv to the new tv. Now I get the error "There's a problem communicating with the satellite dish (775)". I've runs tests and it says it can't connect to SWM. I've changed HDMI cables, unplugged the SWM for 2 minutes, and nothing changes. I can't get a satellite signal.
I plug everything back into the old tv and everything works fine! The older TV is just a regular 16x9 flat screen, and about 12 years old. The new tv is an LG UHD webOS Model 65UN69 TV, that supports 4k. The Directv cable box is HR44 Genie with 2 minis.
Would anyone know why the box works fine on the older tv, and not the new tv? Would I need a new SWM, because it can't support this new tv?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Steve

If you have a Genie, then an equipment upgrade will NOT increase your bill. The Genie requires all the receiver services of HD, DVR, and Whole Home DVR. The only way new equipment would increase the bill is if you are adding more TVs.
As for the initial issue, I am at a loss as well. Smart TVs can work with DirecTV boxes. The error message you get is not DirecTV unable to connect to TV but a problem connecting to the satellite. So, something very weird is going on with your electrical interacting with the new TV that affects other devices.
Have you tried with the smart TV plugged into power, but not the DirecTV box with that connected to a regular TV instead? I'm wondering if it an issue straight with the electrical or if by connected to HDMI if that completes some very odd circuit.

The last tv that I tried (small smart tv) worked/works from the mini genie in the other room. It just won't connect to satellite on the HR44...and neither will the other smart tv.

I would like to know if the TV from the spare room works ok in the spare bedroom when the old three prong TV is unplugged. It is possible that your DirecTV system is not grounded. Normally this would not be a problem but perhaps there is some stray voltage somehow getting onto the coax and the three prong TV serves as a ground for the DirecTV system. Do you know if your Directv system is grounded? There would be a green wire going from a splitter or ground block (looks similar to a splitter but only two ports) to a house ground point. Just raising this as a possibility.

Guess what Good4u....I've been watching the old tv last night and this afternoon. Both Genie minis have been working too in the other rooms. Today, I tried to find where that green wire ground splitter thing is outside, but couldn't find it. We bought the house in 2005, and it had older cable and landline phone wires connected to the house...none of which we have or use now.
I had spectrum cable come out for internet installation back in 2005, and a year later Dish Network. They both did a full installation. Three or four years later we switched to Directv, and that's when the cables and wires started adding up. The serviceman used some cables but not all, from the previous Dish Network install, but never removed the old cables that he didn't use. Everything is under the house in a crawl space, so it's going to be a huge effort to go under the house with a creeper. All the cables laying on the concrete stop the creeper from rolling....so now to make a long story shorter.
I grabbed the little smart tv and put it back in the guest room. I hooked it back up to the mini Genie, and went back to the den to unplug the old 3-prong tv, while everything was still on and working. I then went back to the spare room and turned on the mini genie and small smart tv. Once it booted up, I got the same error no satellite connection! I left everything as is, and went back to the 3-prong tv and plugged it back in to the surge protector. The 3-prong tv lit up with the show that was already on! I went back to the guest room, and that small smart tv was working, as well!!!!!
You're a genius!!! That's exactly what the problem is!! I just don't know how to fix it, but at least I know the problem. I might have to get Directv out here to fix it. Hopefully it won't be too expensive.
Anyway, thank you so much for your help, along with litzdog911 and everyone else! It feels awesome to finally know what the heck was going on!
Cheers to all!!!!!!

DTV will not do anything to fix an electrical problem. Grounding for DTV is usually done at the power panel.

@shannon02...They were the ones that installed it. Why wouldn't they correct the problem?

Great troubleshooting! DirecTV techs are not qualified or allowed to work on your electrical wiring. You'll need to hire a licensed electrician for that.

DTV will fix/replace the coax, dish/LNB and faulty boxes nothing more.

If the DirecTV system is not grounded a DirecTV tech should be able to do that assuming there is a grounding point available, however that doesn't answer the question of why it is not working ungrounded. I would recommend having a DirecTV tech out to take a look at it.
