booster of some type needed

My Mom's house is fairly long and the main Directv box is located too far from her AT&T router for "On Demand", the signal will not reach the box. Totally different floor and on completely opposite ends of the house. Any suggestions?

You can get an access point for the area where the DIRECTV box is. Otherwise, a hard-wired Ethernet connection would be really great for that DIRECTV box. Just for confirmation, what is the receiver model she has? I’m guessing an HR44 or HR54 since they both have WiFi capability.

You need WiFi extenders.

If the home's electrical wiring is in good shape, then a powerline adapter could be an option. Have a box by your DirecTV receiver and one by your internet router as it converts Ethernet over the existing electrical. Though it may not reach speeds as directly by Ethernet, it tends to be faster and more stable than a WiFi connection (but only if the wiring is in good shape of course).

Is there either a wired DirecTV box or an unused coax cable connection in the same room that the router is in? If so, an adapter can be installed that would connect to the router by an ethernet cable and then to the coax cable connection to connect the DirecTV network, giving you a wired connection to the router.
