Help please! Want to swap locations of HR-54 and c61k to change 4k room availability. Shannon? Juniper?

In 2016 I had an HR-54 installed in my home theater which did NOT have a 4k projector, and connected to the hr-54 are three c61k 4k minis in three other rooms.  In one of those 3 other rooms with a c61k - lets call it the "guest room" - there is not a 4k tv (in the two rooms that do have 4k tvs, the c61ks work fine).    I just upgraded my projector to a 4k projector.   The Hr-54 in the theater will of course not output 4k to the projector.  However, I have the c61k in the guest room with a non-4k tv, so obviously the solution is to put the hr-54 in the guest room, and move the c61k to the theater.   From reading ALOT this morning, it SEEMS that I could do so IF somehow I found where the swm splitter is, and switched the red port to the guest room, and the guest room port to the theater (and whether the guest room is labelled or identifiable on the splitter as such, I have no idea).   The hr-54 is hooked up to a gray power inserter (with "power to swm" port and a "signal to Ird" port, the "power" port presumably for the red swm splitter connection).  I assume I would have to move the power inserter together with the hr-54.   Am I on the right track?  Any other suggestions or advice or an easier way?   p.s. it seems that someone named "Shannon" and another named "Juniper" are pretty educated about this stuff, please chime in lol, and explain things as if I am a third grader, and not a grown  56 year old man.  Thanks!

This seems a bit interesting. Usually, the HR54 series does Not Need a power inserter because it powers the dish itself. Therefore, I would re-check to see if there really IS a power inserter at all. If there is, remove it and just run the coaxial cable right to the HR54’s coax connection. There is NO need for a power inserter when an HR54 is present.

As far as swapping the receivers goes, this is totally possible. All you need to do is swap both receivers and look for the DIRECTV SWM splitter. On the splitter, the first port has a RED LINE saying ‘POWER PASS.’ This connection would have went to your theater where the HR54 was. Now, since the HR54 is in the Guest room, you want to put the guest room coax on the first port that says power pass. The home theater coaxial cable can be put wherever the guest room coax used to be plugged in on the splitter.

If this step is done incorrectly, all receivers will show error 775 because the SWM LNB is not getting power. As stated earlier, the HR54 should NOT get a power inserter because it powers the dish itself.

Thanks!  I too think it is odd that there is a power inserter just before the hr 54  --- but there is.

Perhaps that is an older power inserter before getting the HR54?

Leave the power inserter where it is and just connect it to the C61K and just move the HR54 to the other room that way you don't have to find the SWM splitter and change the coaxes.

I was going to post but shannon beat me to it. Yes, just swap the Hr54 and the C61k over. No need to move the power inserter, no need to worry about the splitter.

Yes you don't actually need the power inserter (the HR54 has one built in) but if you remove it you will have to screw around with the cables and the splitter.

What a great idea! I'll try it when I get home tonight and will let you know if it worked, thanks everyone!

If you have a gray power inserter, that means you have a swm multiswitch which requires a 29 volt power inserter rather than a swm lnb on the dish which requires 21 volts. The HR54 only outputs 21 volts which is why the 29 volt gray power inserter is still needed. So yes, leave the pi where it is at and move the HR54.

Or all the tech had was the 29v power inserter that can power a SWM LNB with no problems.  Also could be that the run to the dish is longer then DTV allows and the 29V is needed to over come the power loss.
