Issues

Dear DirecTV,

   

I am a customer but not for long.Here are my two issues....so the 1st thing is when we signed up for DirecTV I told them I would like genie 2 and they didn't install it and they installed older version. The 2nd thing is I cannot view DVR while NOT home and has not been working since day 1. DirecTV claims they are working on it and could be any day which is frustrating.

You can't specify what model you will get,  DTV is currently installing only the HS17 Genie2.   DTV dropped support for streaming from the Genie outside of the home network a few years ago so when the app gets fix you will have to download programs to a mobile device before you leave.

Was the installation work order for a Genie 2? Did the tech confirm the work order with you?

If you want to "Dear DirecTV", then you must call. This is a public forum, not official support.

1. Tech installs what is on the order. If your order confirmation showed Genie-2 then they should have installed the HS17 (as that is the only model of it). In that event you call DirecTV and see about a correction order (if still within 2 weeks of install). However if it just said Genie, then you get either an HR44 or HR54 (not the HR34 as long discontinued). So the question is did you get what was on the order confirmation or not?

2. Streaming DVR outside of home network is not available. Was an option that didn't work well and was removed a few years ago. There has been MobileDVR where you can download recordings to a mobile devices (smart phone/tablet) which are viewable for 30 days. However, the new app to be all-in-one for both DirecTV and DIRECTV STREAM doesn't currently support it.

It is expected that MobileDVR would return once the new app has bugs worked out and features added. As for streaming the DVR out of home network, we do not know if the new co-owner will see about adding it back or leaving it alone like AT&T originaly did.

@shannon02 That may be true in some DMAs but HR54s and 44s continue to be installed every day around here.
