I just bought a new TV that has an HDMI arc hook-up. Does the direct box that I connect have the capability of using ARC?

I am considering signing up for DirecTV Internet (Gemini Air), however, I am not sure if it would work with my current setup. Right now my Xfinity cable box has the HDMI OUT going to the HDMI IN on my soundbar.  The soundbar HDMI Arc is then connected to the HDMI Arc on the TV. My question is

I just bought a soundbar that uses an ARC connection. When I started connecting it, I found that DirecTv is already connected through the ARC outlet. Does DirecTV need the ARC connection? If not, how do I change the DIRECTV connection, so I can use the ARC connection for my new sound bar?

This fixed the black blinking screen but I have a smart tv and once I went away from ARC I was unable to get sound through my AVR when I used the apps on the TV (Netflix, hulu YouTube...). Any suggestions?

Setting up a new Sharp Roku smart TV, I plugged the output from our U-verse receiver into HDMI ARC port, but the TV does not detect a signal. Plugging receiver output into HDMI 2 or 3, the TV detects the signal. Is this normal? Shouldn't the TV see the signal through ARC?
