Exploring Comcast Option

My AT&T Uverse 300 and Intenet 75MB promo is expiring, I currently am paying $130/mo. for both and have been happy with value. But now this will go up to $182/mo. and not a good value.  I called AT&T and asked if I could continue the promo and they can't do that.

They offered a similar package (minus Showtime, Starz, etc) for a little bit more than the U300 promo I had for the 1st 12 mo. but I have to lock in for 24 months and the last 12 months is very expensive.

Comcast Xfinity has a package very similar to Uverse 300 with a 100Mb download speed, I can add in showtime for $139 per month, so I am seriously considering moving. This is only a 12 month contract

Any thoughts on Comcast performance or reliability lately? I have used in past (about 10 years ago) and performance was good, but extremely expensive, and usually forced a 24 mo commit, what I am seeing Comcast seems like the better option, but wanted to hear from others who have some recent experience with both companies

Thanks,

Eric

Have you factored in the cost of equipment from Comcast? By the time you add in modem fee, Stb fees and whole house dvr you could be looking at paying a similar cost to uverse. I would go online and go through the process of ordering Comcast to see what the equipment fees will be.

@browndk26 - Great idea, I went through the steps and The $139.94 per month includes X1 Cloud DVR ($9.95/mo.) & Wireless Gateway ($10.00/Mo.) + Showtime ($10.00/mo), Starz (free) and StreamPix (free) + a one time fee of $89.99 install (not really sure what they do, other than plug in cable and hook up router to cable box)

@my thoughts - I bet you are right that after 1 year Comcast will likely jump significantly, I would guess close to $200/mo., but the nice thing is I would be done with the one year commitment and could drop them. Then I would have option to consider AT&T again (Since AT&T would then consider me a new customer and I would qualify for whatever promotion there is for a new customer). I would rather not ping pong back and forth, as I have been happy with the service and value I had with my current package - but not seeing a better alternative at the moment.

@my thoughts - I am married and this sounds like a better option, will look into this more. Would like to stay with AT&T if possible. Thank you
