I can't record a series

For the past few days whenever I try to record a series it is only capturing one episode.  I select "any day, any time" and I've tried both "new shows only and new with reruns".  Nothing works.  Is anyone else having this problem?

I've already tried restarting.

I had that  a few years ago, as well as this year.

I believe someone may have fixed one & others self corrected  back then.

All you can do is check your scheduled recordings each day & add a new series.

If you look at the series records, the problematic shows will show zero episodes scheduled.

Also, I tried setting up the series using the Uverse web remote access and the message says that it cannot communicate with the DVR.

Linda,

Please provide me with the show and the network you are trying to schedule your recording on. I'll check it out and see what's up.

The other day it was Chopped on the Food Network.  They were having an all day marathon so I wanted to get a bunch recorded but my DVR wouldn't.

Today the same with Major Crimes on TNT.  Today they are showing all of last year .leading u[p to the new season show tonight.  I alread had the season set up so I went in and changed the setting to capture reruns as well as new, but no episodes set up for today.  I then tried to set up a new series with new and reurns at any time, but it would only set to record one.

I love having a bunch of one show in the series folder to watch in a row.  This is bumming me out.

I just tried an experiment and tried setting up a series where the shows only come on once or twice a week and it works fine.  So it's just not letting have the series when the episodes are all in one day.  Weird.

I believe this is actually a different problem than I thought in your OP.

I interpreted the first description as a regularly scheduled series just dieing.

I remember another post about this situation - trying to schedule marathons.

I believe the ony solution was to use the manual schedule by time for each episode.

Recordings > Add recording > Create a manual recording.

The only way to populate a folder is from the same one series request. A series request does not apply to marathon sessions. Maybe a new "Marathon" recording category is required to capture from time one to time 2 & place the episodes in a folder.

Linda,

I've engaged the DVR developmental team. Can you schedule individual recordings OK?

I think it may have something to do with the 72 hour rule.

I've always been able to schedule all episodes in a marathon day, in one folder.  This problem only showed up about a week ago.

When you say the 72 hour rule I'm thinking that means when it sometimes won't record one or more of the episodes if they have been recorded recently.  That's ok with me because it mean I have just seen it recently.

There is an option thaty says to only record the program once a day.  I have never used it and it is not checked now, but it almost seems like maybe that opiton is kicking in.

Have any of you tried taping today's Major Crime marathon as a series to see if you are having the same problem as me?

I forgot to answer your question.  Yes I can record individual episodes just fine.  I can even set up a series (with the 3 dots), but it's only setting up one of the episodes.

OK.  I just tried setting up a series record of NCIS on USA to see if it would work..  It's on all day.  The series set up to record just fine.  All episodes today are set to record.

So no common denominator.   UGH

Can someone please try setting up the series of Major Crimes? I think there's only 4 more today.

I tried and was unable to get it to grab more than the one I was clicked on.

I looked at tomorrow and found a whole bunch of Bones scheduled on TNT.  I set up the series and it captured all of them.  So it's not particular to the channel either.  Seems to be at random.  I don't see how that can be resolved.

In attempt to clarify this.

Viewers think of a series as episodes of a show that are all named the same name, for example Major Crimes. We think u-verse series and TV series mean the same thing.

Based on functionality, the U-verse definition is the same timeslot repeated each day or each week. It does not appear to include multiple episodes on the same day. It is not the same as a TV series.

There does not appear to be a way to specify only a specific time. For example, the closer or major crimes had/has new episodes at 9 on Monday. My series recording  for 9 always picked up the rerun at 8.

I have also seen this grab multiple shows on both sides of a selection in a marathon. You might try scheduling a show from the middle to see how many are included. Or, maybe two episodes will grab the whole list.

@Linda661@Fox Mulder

It would be nice if the U_verse series couldactually be TV series and place all shows with the same name in the same folder, regardless of when or how they were recorded. And, allow full granularity of recording specification.

I am wondering if this issue has to do with incomplete series descriptions and missing Original Air dates (OAD)?  i.e. if a show just has a generic description and no OAD and the next, different show has no OAD, I do not think that the second show will be recorded because the DVR has already recorded one with the same generic info.
