Wifi extender causes tv receiver to disconnect

I just purchased and hooked up a Netgear AC1900 Wifi Range Extender to extend wifi to the top floor of my house.  I got it hooked up and it works and helps with the wifi coverage however when it is up and running it causes the wireless receivers in our house to disconnect every 10-15 minutes.  On whatever channel we are watching the screen will freeze up and then a message comes on the screen with a list of troubleshooting items.  We do not have to troubleshoot anything as the receiver connects back on its' own and the program resumes.  I know it is the extender causing this to happen as I have disconnected and re-connected it and the TV issue only happens when it is connected.  Any suggestions?  We want to keep the wifi extender as it helps to extend coverage but don't want to deal with the tv disconnecting every 10 minutes and missing half of the programs we are watching.  Very irritating during football games especially.

@jsanders1997 - A couple of things you can try -

The WAP for the TV receivers should be at least two meters away from the RG ( when wi-fi is used). The same should apply to your netgear - make sure it is at least two meters away from the WAP.

Does the Netgear include 5.0 band? Can you use it only at 2.4? I believe the WAP uses 5.

Maybe get a longer cable for the WAP & try another location.

I ended up returning the Netgear wifi extender because we could never get it set up and have our TV work as well.  The WAP was set up by the installer from ATT uverse and it sits about 2 inches away from the router/modem (we have had all of this set up for 3 plus years with no issues).  We have 2 wireless TV recievers - one is about 6 feet from the WAP and router/modem and the other is on the other side of our house (over 40 feet).  Both work fine until I set up the wifi extender.  The wifi extender was placed on the top floor of our 3 story house which is very far away from the WAP/router/modem (over 50 feet). It extended our wifi to the areas of our house that we needed but when we had it hooked up the wireless tv receivers disconnected every 10 minutes.  The wifi extender did have 2.4 and 5 and when I set it up via the instructions it would automatically connect with the 2.4.

Worked for me!!  Unplugged the extender, which I did not reintall when I got a new computer, and problems with dvr losing signal and not working solved.  Too bad! Hubby wanted to get Direct TV!!!  I was NOT going to let att just give us a new box.  Done that. Tired of losing my recordings!
