An error has occured

When I click on any recorded content, I get the "An error has occurred" yellow box with an 'OK' in it, no explanation given so I'm looking for troubleshooting steps.

I have DirecTV2PC installed and running reliably, (version1.0.00.0702050) and when it starts it checks for updates but doesn’t find any.  The only thing I see in the Application Event log is"A request to disable the Desktop Window Manager was made by process (CyberLink Corp.)" immediately followed by "The Desktop Window Manager was unable to start because composition was disabled by a running application"  While that doesn’t sound related I don’t know if it is, does anyone?

I'm running a gigabit wired LAN and have the DirecTV Whole Home system installed which runs just fine. . I'm wondering if maybe my PC hardware specs are an issue: (I just installed the latest nVidia drivers, 8.17.12.8026 from 8/3/11)

This is interesting!  I have the same problem.  The only thing we have in common is the processor and the gigabit NIC.  I'm running a ASUStec Maximus II Formula MB with an ATI RADEON HD4870 video (1 gig DDR5) PCIe.  The Gigabit is onboard the MB, but also has Realtek hardware.  My router is also a ASUS unit RT-N15 with gigabit I/F and "n" Wi-Fi.  I'm wondering if the problem is the Gigabit interfaces.  I've had some problems with previous routers that didn't have that interface not "hooking-up" when I turned my machine on.  I had to cycle power on that router to get internet access.

Yes, this is very interesting!  I have the same error problem.  My computer Directv 2 PC software connects to the playlist and when I select an item to play,  I get the "An error has occurred" yellow box with an 'OK' in it, no explanation given so I'm looking for troubleshooting steps.  I have talked Tech support and my problem was forwarded to engineering to return my call within 24 hours.  Three days and I have recieved no call or other help.  If the Directv 2 PC software can read my playlist on the Network, it should be able to play any or all on the playlist.

Not necessarily so.  Seeing a list of file names with zero content is a lot different than streaming those mega bit media files.  I'd guess that all of you are running some program that Directv2PC can't live with.  I've seen this several times but have never kept track of all the different software's that people have reported as interfering.  If it were me, I'd limit the startup programs and temporarily disable the firewall and see if I could find what was the bottleneck.  By the way, you folks aren't running a firewall on your router are you?  And, you all have hard wired networks, no wireless components?

Had the same problem, using the same graphics card. (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275)

I simply updated the graphics card driver, and problem solved!

I complained about this some time ago and tried everything.  Updated my Nvidia 7900 and tried all suggestions that I could find.  It was playing beautifully a month or so ago and nothing changed on my computer.  I find it will play,  if you try starting it enough times.  Of course that is quite irritating,  to have to close the yellow box and try to play again and again.  It will do it every time,  if I try enough times,  so the ability to do so is there,  it is just hard to get to on my unit.
