Any way to trade many of these news channels?

Any way to trade many of these worthless news channels ie: ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, Bloomberg, FOX etc. for something worth watching ? I would rather watch Gunsmoke reruns than what these channels spew...

Sorry but the answer is no. Channel owners package their content to TV providers, which in turn must package to us. You cannot swap or al-a-carte the channels. All you can do is choose the package that best fits.

Remember many news channels are in most packages. And channels like ABC, CBS (network channel or affiliate) are your local channels. You get the locals for the market you live in, and that is with all packages.

So don't watch the channels or use a favorites list to hide them if they don't work for you.

Hi there,

I don't like a lot of the channels listed, but I really can't stand Fox News.  How can I remove it from my account?  If this is not possible, I will seriously consider getting rid of my account.  Thanks in advance!

Is there a way to no longer get Fox channels and get a bundle without those channels / no longer pay for those channels? I find their programs to be increasingly poor quality and full of harmful misinformation.

I do not want to support them going forward.

Please let me know how to remove them and no longer support them.

Thanks.

You cannot exclude individual channels. If you are referring to your local FOX channel, FOX Business, or FOX News, they are in all packages. All you can do with them is create a custom Favorites list and hide the channel. If it is any other FOX channel, then you would need to reduce your package to one that doesn't include it.

Channels package themselves to TV providers which in turn must be packaged to us customers. So that is why they cannot be al-a-carte.

Appreciate this information. Sad to see there's no way to "vote" to have a no Fox/Fox News package or bundle of channels. Sigh. Wish there was a way to say I don't want to pay for this dangerous drivel even by passive acceptance of a package.

I hope you stay safe and healthy.

FOX News is absolutely DESTROYING our Democracy!  Companies better find a way to remove it, or three-quarters of the nation will be cancelling their DirecTV or UVerse:  that is, if they haven't done so already. Satellite and cable companies actually pay FOX an extra fee (in addition to what customers pay) just to be able to carry FOX'S programming!

I formally request that DirectTV, and all media providers join together and take a stance in making a business decision, out of their social responsibility to their core values and to the nation that keeps them in business, to remove Fox News, OAN, NewsMax and any other organization presenting themselves as journalism, or commentary, but rather are functioning to take advantage of Americans with the aim of inciting insurrection toward the government of the United States.

TV providers give you variety. It is hoped you are mature enough to watch what you like and not watch (possibly hide with a custom favorites list) what you don't watch.

They don't have any such "social responsibility". This isn't 1984 where everything is controlled without freedom of thought and choice.

Fox gets most of its income due to these bundles.  The customer doesn't have a choice.  Their money goes to them whether they want to support them or not.  This is not fair.  The customer should have a choice where their money goes.

In that same vein, could you provide the channel owners for the following:

Fox News

One America News Network

NewsMax

Because I am perfectly willing to do without any and all sister channels to these three.

do your own research this is a customer populated forum were not going to spend time to research the channel owners. i can tell you right now they arent going to change thier programming or channel options because you dont have the same beliefs as some others.

Really STRONGLY dislike the annoying ads that now quickly pop up when pausing programming with the remote. A scrolling logo, or slideshow of scenic pictures, as it used to be, would be much better. Wish DirecTV could revert back to no AT&T influence, as it once was. Hate the busy, flipping, irritating ads forced upon us.

The landscape slideshow started after AT&T acquired them. Was in preparation for the pause screen adds, I suspect so that encouraged people to pay attention before it was the norm.

At least you are not forced to watch it. Either unpause or go do whatever it is you paused the TV for. Alternatively, you can disconnect your setup from the internet and it will revert back to the logo screen saver (except possibly for anything already recorded).

@Realnewswatcher

What is news is different for each person, including what they take to be facts. TV providers give variety, so it is up to the individual to make the mature decision on what they watch instead of jumping onto a forum just to insult people's perceived intelligence.

There is a way to remove them from your list by making a favorites, it saves time from scrolling through the negativity.

Using a favorites list is highly suggested. First you eliminate all the channels you don't get the begin with (option "Channels I Get"). Then uncheck any individual channels you don't watch. Now you have an easy browsable guide of just what works for you. Just make sure you have the right fitting package in the first place of course.

Please keep One America News in you lineup. I prefer their programing to any of the MSM news programing currently offered. One America News is not as biased as the rest of the Main Stream Media.
