Blacking out sports

Why is directv blacking out all of the classic hockey games on the sports channels. There is no live hockey game because of the virus. I have NHL package and DIRECTV is blacking out classic NHL hockey games. What a joke.

direcTV doesn't determine blackouts the teams and leagues do it's the same on ALL pay tv providers. ANYTHING can be blacked out at any time not just sports btw.

These are replayed games on sports channels not the real live games. I understand the blackout for live games and not all the games are blacked out.

It is up to the leagues/RSNs/Teams to set blackout rules. Being an old game does not make it immune from blackouts. TV providers, DirecTV and others, have no say in blackouts.

Yes I completely understood you were asking about replays that's why I emphasized ANYTHING can be blacked out.

We’ve seen similar complaints on other game replays, it’s not just NHL games. I wish someone could verify whether other service providers are blacking out the same games in the same markets. I just can’t believe any leagues are purposely blacking out old games. I suspect Directv is erroneously applying blackout rules.
