Can you PLEASE offer Travel Channel individually for purchase during Covid-19 trying times for families?
Our family requests to possibly see if Travel Channel can be offered alone for purchase? We cannot afford to upgrade due to COVID-19 situations and income changes. We'd have to upgrade $40 just to get 1 channel our kids love. The Travel Channel actually makes my kiddos sit down and watch tv in peace! Free programming just ended 7/31/20 and we want to know can you offer this channel for single purchase, even if it's just temporary, PLEASE! Make our kids day better and possibly offer this an option. Thank you for listening! Kids are home 24/7 and this channel brings entertainment to our home!

Only so much free programming was opened up which was limited. As you are aware that ended. They can only do so much per their agreements with the networks. Any channel decisions like that are internal between the companies, which we customers have no say in.
And opening up a single channel will practically not happen. They may get a group for an extreme situation (like they did for Covid-19), but a single channel no as the networks are heavily against any al-a-carte situation. So it would appear that the extent of the bonus channels has reach its limit. Plus people are already going back to work, and schools should start following shortly, so such a bonus means a lot less now anyway.
Sorry not the answer you were hoping for, just how it is right now. I would double check package cost as Choice should not be a $40 difference, unless you are in special lowest package Family. https://www.att.com/channels/directv/

What you're referring to is "a la carte" service, the ability to pick individual channels as desired to create your own lineup. Entertainment subscribers have wanted this for years, to no avail. Travel Channel is owned by Discovery, Inc., and that company decides how to price and market it's channel packages. I haven't seen it offered as an individual premium channel anywhere yet.

I understand and get that but my point is this is not the norm for families and having a pandemic. It's possible they could do this and understand that's up to the Networks. Like I said even temporary just to entertain families since we're in situations out of our control. DirecTV just offered it for free to families for quite a few months and that's awesome. I just want to know is it possible to purchase without upgrading and temporarily add it to the package like our with 155 Channels. Hey it's worth just putting in a request, just like the DirecTV representative told me to do.

temporary free programing was agreed upon by discovery, discovery wont allow it, if directv did that they would be in breach of contract
While AT&T employees do look at forum posts from time to time, we are here to represent the forum with our experiences as customers and do not represent AT&T in any official capacity with our responses and do so on our own time unpaid and off the clock. As employees we are not rewarded nor compensated to participate in these forums This forum is comprised of regular customers to communicate with other customers to offer advice and share experiences same as any other user Although there is a small team of customer care specialists that monitor the forums the sheer volume of posts are simply too many posts for these agents to respond to each one of them.

So it's not even possible to have sales/management to ask Discovery? If they ask Discovery and agree then it's possible. Negotiations amongst the 2 companies because of a World pandemic and giving households a choice due to the circumstances. Ask Discovery and see if they'd agree upon another option for DirecTV customers. I understand Discovery makes the decision what can be offered. They'd profit vs not profit for families enjoying their programming. It's a win win, see my point! 👍Worth asking for customers anyways.

NO pay TV service, not Comcast, not Spectrum, not DISH, offers a la carte programming. What you are asking for is not, nor has ever been, possible.
Don't mess with old people. The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

Well haven't we woke up on the wrong side of the bed Karen! 😂 Such negativity! All a person can do is hope something is possible. How would you know if during a pandemic they may make changes? Anything is possible. I'll forward this feed to Discovery! Such negativity.

As my youngest says to me in lawyerspeak when I keep asking her questions that she's already answered:
"I don't know what you want me to tell you."
But hope springs eternal. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

The content providers package their channels and will not allow any customer to pick a few just like DTV and all other TV providers do.

@skeeterintexas 🤣🤣
@laurielee76 the truth shall set you free. Adding a channel alacarte just isn't as simple as you think no matter what the world is going through. Call any other pay tv provider and ask them the same thing.
I will suggest this for you as an immediate alternative to get the trvl channel , subscribe to Philo tv for $20.00 per month it's a streaming service so you'll need hi speed internet and a smart tv or streaming device

Oh and the rep suggesting you to request it was setting false expectations as channel requests (if even considered) take YEARS to accomplish ,if ever. especially alacarte

Yes, unfortunately that rep was just getting you off of their line. A la carte channels are a wishful fantasy and have been for decades now.
