Caribbean and Eastern Pacific DirecTV Coverage
Greetings, I am the Supply Officer aboard Coast Guard Cutter Mohawk. We generally deploy and patrol in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific. When we go south of Cuba, we lose our signal. What are our options to increase the coverage area when going south?

There are none as DTV is not allowed to broadcast outside the US. Alaska and Hawaii have to use larger dishes to receive DTV.

DirecTV is spot beamed by the satellites. Traveling outside the coverage area means no service. It is not a matter of stronger signal, but you are outside line of sight.
Essentially DirecTV is a point to point communication (directed), not a blanket signal that you can capture if within range.
