channel line up changed after receiver upgrade

We have upgraded both receivers and as a result, no longer have some local channels. In place of Los Angeles network channels, KABC, KCAL, KTLA, PBS:KCET, KOCE, we now have Reno network and PBS. Is there a way to add at least one or two Los Angeles channels into our new current channel line-up?

Change in equipment does not affect what locals you get. Those are based on your zip code, and in some cases county. www.directv.com/locals

You cannot choose specific locals per Federal regulations. You are only allowed locals that are in your Designated Market Area (DMA).

Either address info changed (such as county if you are on the border of 2 DMAs), the DMA line recently updated, or you were receiving incorrect locals to begin with that just corrected with a refresh of service authorizations to the new equipment.

Best answer received from Customer Service yesterday with detail explanation and available options. Highly recommend taking the time to contact them in regards to situation and federal regulations, as it likely varies depending upon geographic location and demographics. We are satisfied with the installer, installation, and new equipment, and would not hesitate to recommend DIRECTV to others. Thank you all for feedback.

Local channels are based on the service address so DTV either has the wrong service address or you where never suppose to receive those channels in the first place.

What's your zip code?

Thank you! It appears the channel line-up we now have is correct for Mono County. We are 6 miles north of the Inyo County border and the "previous,' channel line-up. I might try streaming from the channels web sites, etc.

Yes, when the FCC changes the DMA boundaries the Directv back office systems are supposed to change your locals but for some reason this did not happen with your old system. The new system of course picked up the correct locals straight away. Unfortunate but as juniper says directv can't do anything about that, they have to follow the FCC rules.

TexasBrit. Observe both Mono and Inyo Counties are in the same 93514 zip code, however, have vastly different channel lineups.

If the county is the difference, then you could call and verify the correct one is on the physical service address. That would be the only chance to get the locals you want without using a regular antenna.

There are numerous occasions where two counties are in the same zip code but have different locals. If you use the directv locals lookup you will see that.
