Direct TV: Commercials within downloaded English content are in Spanish...why?

My wife has downloaded numerous episodes from the TLC channel. Though the episodes are in English, the commercials are in Spanish. The downloaded episodes prevents fast forwarding so she needs to sit through the Spanish commercials. Why is this? We do have an Hispanic surname, so is some type of profiling going on?

TLC controls what commercials are added to their programs.  I've seen Spanish commercials on English live TV as well.

Not being able to FF/REW is an unfortunate condition of On Demand. More and more channels disable the feature, just like they do for their own websites, to force you to watch commercials. Though they have the technical right, it is unethical for them to disable a feature of my DirecTV box.

As for the commercials being in Spanish, that has absolutely nothing to do with your surname as that would be flat out transparently illegal. That would be a technical issue.

What model boxes?

Do they each have the problem?

I would verify coax is finger tight to each box.

If an error in service authorizations: www.directv.com/refresh

Might have to unplug power for a minute if the error is stuck in memory.

Power cycle in specific order: Genie > Client > HDDVR > HD non-DVR

May have to refresh service authorizations after power cycle.

If that doesn't fix it, then it is very likely is an error with the TLC On Demand feed. You could try calling DirecTV to see if known issue, but you might have to contact TLC if it is the information they are sending in the first place. Won't fix the FF/REW block, but at least should have commercials in the same language as all your other settings.
