Directv now, ATT TV Now, whatever it is for Firestick
ATT, get your game together and answer the (Edited per community guidelines) questions. It is 9-21-20, and people don't know how to stream their Direct TV service through an Amazon Fire stick, possibly other streaming platforms. What app do we use, what credentials do we use, and get the answers posted so we don't have to spend hours talking to illiterate CS reps.
We have tried the ATT Now app, no dice, just a turning wheel of death. After waiting 30 minutes on the phone, some (Edited per community guidelines) in customer service said we have to open a port on our router (Edited per community guidelines).
Clarify this service and act like you give a (Edited per community guidelines).

Your question has been answered many times, actually. You can’t stream your Directv satellite service on a fire stick. There is no Directv app for any streaming device or smart tv. The Directv app is for phones and tablets only. The ATT TV Now app, formerly called Directv Now is for a totally separate streaming service, not for Directv satellite service. If you want to watch Directv on a TV, you need a receiver. You can use your Directv credentials on the various network apps but that’s it.

Then train your CS reps. Actually tried to tell my client to open a port on his router.

Not my reps. This is a customer to customer forum, not customer support. I’m just another customer.

That's great, but this is a moderated forum on ATT's website, which ATT staff and employee's answer. I find it strange that awards are given out to customers that answer other customer questions opposed to the company. Additionally, when searching this topic on the website, there is so much disinformation about streaming on platforms posted and answered by other customers......Waste of time.
I could have saved three hours of non billable time if a CS rep was knowledgeable.

Moderated? Only to delete personal info or naughty words.
ATT Help ("staff") rarely replies. Employees are here on their own time and do not represent the company.
Awards are innocuous and give for quantity, not quality.
Feel free to point out any disinformation. I know I do. 😆
Don't mess with old people. The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

There is no DirecTV (satellite) app for Firestick. That app is for viewing on a mobile device only. To watch on a TV you pay for the authorized TV on the service with a receiver/client.
AT&T TV NOW is a streaming-only service. It used to be called DIRECTV NOW but too many people confused it with DirecTV, so they rebranded it. This is a completely separate service that has nothing to do with the satellite service.
Now some channels have their own individual app that can go onto a TV streaming device and use your DirecTV (satellite), or other TV provider's credentials to login. This is an option some channels allow.
This is a public forum of other customers. Moderators don't provide customer support, as they are moderating the forum (getting rid of spam/crooks, editing out personal info, or other such inappropriate content, etc.). Any with the "employee" tag are posting on their personal time, not in an official capacity (off-the-clock). The only official support is the AT&T "Help" team, but it is a small department that is only supplemental to customer support with limited options. Those with the "ACE" tag (like myself) are simply experienced customers who tend to be more knowledgeable about the service. Many times we can provide guidance before speaking with DirecTV, and sometimes provide more accurate info then agents who are new so training after the acquisition by AT&T.
As for "awards", well that is the culture we are in. Just like people get "achievements" in various video games or game consoles, many other websites have implemented a similar feature to encourage participation.
