Want to disconnect service now that ESPN, Disney and ABC are gone.

I think this only affects ABC-owned affiliate stations, not all of ABC. The lose of ESPN will impact folks the most.

Any estimate on how long ESPN channels will be shut down? Customer for 29 years and the one thing I watch religiously is the US Open and all I get is a rude message about Disney Negotiations.

ABC, out... ESPN, off the air... what a bunch of crap... we pay through the nose for this stuff and suddenly, as you set down to watch Sunday night game, "no access"... contract negotiations... See UTUBE as alternate to stupid DirectTV (why did I leave Xfinity... why!!)....

This is why you are paying through the nose, the content providers and local channels want more money when their contacts expire with the TV providers.

This needs to be figured out quick because I’m done if I can’t watch espn during football season.

So much for Disney being consumer-centric. It is all about maximizing profit regardless that consumers pay for these channels plus subscribe Disney streaming service. Ridiculous!!

I also have been a loyal Directv customer for over 25 years.  I’m all set to watch my football game (USC v LSU) on regular old abc and 15 minutes before the game starts, Directv takes away my abc channel and espn channel.  It was obviously done on purpose.  A notice about a dispute with Disney popped up.  I was on the phone for 2 hours, waiting and then speaking with a nitwit that had no idea what she was talking about.  I finally asked for a supervisor who talked me into some sort of deal for us loyal customers since this is putting us out.  So she told me it was playing on the espn streaming and she walked me through signing up for that (which also became a huge problem) and when I finally signed up with Directv saying they would cover the price for a month for me, I find out that I couldn’t get the game on the streaming espn device either.  Now I’ve paid extra and still can’t see my game and it’s the second half already.  I want to know what you are going to do to get me my channels back.  I need them by tomorrow.  9/2/2024.  I’m really upset that I missed my game.

All TV providers have this problem so changing is a short term solution.

Actually, changing providers has worked for me for several years. Certainly, there's always the risk that my current TV provider will also have a contract dispute; I'm in that situation right now, having switched from YouTubeTV to DirecTV for baseball season, and tonight ESPN went dark before the first pitch of the Braves/Phillies game. I'd love a permanent solution of some kind, but a short-term one can work for a surprisingly long time. And to my knowledge, Fubo is not in a contract dispute with Disney. If you've heard otherwise, please post, because my DirecTV bill drops in a little less than 48 hours, and I'll make a decision soon.

@holtlk45 Unfortunately, who knows how long this dispute will be.  If you cannot live without baseball, you will likely switch.  Spectrum went through the same dispute not long ago and they were without channels for a week or two if you can get a free trial of a service that might be the best way to go temporarily.

Disney is the one that removed their feed to DTV when they could have left it on while they continue to talk.

I am furious that once again we cannot watch abc, espn, etc. on DIRECTV.  Can’t believe there is not a way to foresee and avoid this situation!

All live TV services go through this as carriage agreements come to an end.  This has been being worked on by Directv for a while but the two parties have not been able to come to an agreement.  So Disney decided to pull their feeds to give them more leverage in negotiations as they could have kept the feeds live while they worked on the agreement.  But instead, they take it out on the consumer in hopes that they will switch to Disney+ where they would make more $$$$.  It's not fair to the people who pay expecting those channels to be on their TV service only for Disney to pull them when they don't get their own way.  I know Disney+ does not have ABC live feeds they are just doing this to punish Directv consumers so that they get more money because they own the ABC live feeds.

Come on folks - we pay for direct tv service in advance. So I have already paid for ESPN thru September and I am not getting it!  Wrong!  Wrong! Wrong!  Especially when we couldn’t watch the LSU vs USC game on Sunday sept 1! Please get this resolved!

Directv is working on an agreement hopefully something will happen soon.  In the meantime have you gone to www.directv.com/tvpromise to get a credit for this outage?  Right now they are offering a $20 credit.

@Scheider No you don't pay in advance, your billing cycle started the day you where installed, on day 2 your bill is made and sent unless you are on auto pay that pays it on that date.  Read the TOS that states channels and programming are subject to change at anytime.

My ABC station is still blacked out. Wish I could get my ABC station back like you did.  My local ABC station is not even owned by Disney and yet I am blacked out.

They do start the talks before the expiration date, just sometimes it doesn't work.
