Having problems watching certain recorded shows from my DVR On the DIRECTV app on my iPad

on The old DIRECTV app I was able to watch all of my recorded shows on my iPad . This new DIRECTV app will not let me see some of my recorded shows it says DVR viewing only . Also certain channels that I used to be able to watch I no longer can watch it on the new app . On the old App I could watch all of my MLB baseball ticket games but I can’t watch them on the new app even  though they are on my TV in the living room. I have to say I really like the older app. After trying this a few times I have decided to remove it from my iPad no sense in having the app if I can’t use it.

I have been having the same issues. No way to download my favorite shows to my IPAD. I pay pretty big bucks for the package I have and am so disappointed in Direct that after 14 years I am considering dropping Direct

There are countless posts about this same issue all over the Forums. A fix hasn’t been released yet and no one here knows if it is even in the works (hopefully).

For now, @Cburlingham you’ll need to see if the recordings you have are available on-demand since there is always a good chance they are. If not, as stated before, you are out of luck.

Nope, as stated above we believe it is a bug in the new app or DTV may add it later as stated by some DTVhelp reps

I called DTV in March 2023 BEFORE I switched from DISH to DTV Sat (not stream) and asked if I'd be able to watch my recorded programs and channels on the road when traveling like my mom had a few years ago.  They said YES! No qualifications etc. I travel half a year in a small RV and LOVED my DISH travel set up (but not how long they kept local channels off when negotiating) so I switched. And now, as you know, it is a joke and a hassle and a very big disappointment.  I'm wondering if anyone has NEW news re: an upcoming fix since the last post 3 months ago? If no fix is in the works, since I have a 2.5 month trip mid-July I am going to request early free termination (since I came onboard having been given the wrong info) and go back to DISH.

There is no free early termination you will pay $20 per unused months. DTVhelp has said there are updates coming out the will allow some programs to be streamed to devices from the Genie, last update said by August up from mid July

If you take an HDDVR with you, then you can watch the recordings that are on it. Though you need a slimline SWM dish on a tripod/sled mount or the Winegard Trav'ler so the box can verify service authorizations.

If you meant watching/streaming recordings out-of-home, that is in flux right now. DirecTV has switched to a new app to combine DirecTV and DIRECTV STREAM into one interface without having to manage separate apps.

With the new app, downloading recordings to a mobile device for travel (MobileDVR) and streaming out-of-home, appears to be returning within the coming weeks. This is their official pinned post on the matter:

Dish, DirecTV, or any other TV provider does not keep the locals or any other channels off while negotiating. When a new agreement is not reached by the time the existing one ends, the channel owner can choose to withhold the feed as a scare tactic to customers to leverage them for higher costs. Unfortunately with locals this has become more common. My view is why should we customers of any company keep having it factor into higher costs for channels that are free over the regular airways? I didn't go to pay TV for locals but the other national channels I couldn't get free.

You do not get early free termination. Channels and their content are subject to change, so there is no guarantee of you always or ever getting the feature you want. That is pretty much true of any TV provider. You pay for service by satellite, but what you get through their delivery method is allowed to change at any time. You got what is on your paperwork, so any ECF upon canceling would be valid. Whether agent jumped the gun a bit on the info, or gave outdated or knowingly wrong info, at least the feature is returning soon.

Hopefully you don't need to do anything at home (other than making sure your Genie/Genie-2 is connected to the internet of course) before the feature works since it looks like it is planned to launched while you are already traveling.
