How do you turn off those OBNOXIOUS marketing screen savers

I have just upgraded from an HR34 to a HR54R1-500 and I find the new marketing screen savers to be a OBNOXIOUS intrusion into our Living Room. How do I turn them off short off cutting the DirecTV cord?

The only way to disable the screen saver adds is to disconnect your setup from the internet as they are downloaded. It would then revert back to the logo screen saver.

Though HR54/HR54R1 is an improvement over the HR34, I hope you used a warranty replacement instead of an upgrade as they are like for like (both are Genie). Only exception would be if you got the HR54 in a 4K upgrade as it is one of the pieces needed for the limited content.

So you have to remove capabilities like On-demand in order to get back to the logo screensaver.

For AT&T Customer Insight: Every time I see those OBNOXIOUS marketing screen savers, you are eroding my 20+ year DirecTV brand loyalty.

Screen saver was a untapped area to advertise additional programming. Since most people don't sit there watching their screen saver, it was a quick way to present some info.

I pause to answer the phone/door, get a snack, take care of personal things, etc., not to sit there watching the screen saver. So personally I don't consider it an issue. My only critique is that I do wish the delay on the screen saver was consistent in when it starts among the different boxes, that way if you do pause to check something on screen it doesn't come on too quick.

The point is I wish I did not have to watch screen savers but that is impossible when you have a very large screen in your living room driven by this UPGRADE??? bright, colorful and OBNOXIOUS screen saver marketing intrusion. I do not endorse AT&T right to drive unwanted solicitations into my living room with this downgrade and this marketing is a motivation to cut the DirecTV cord if AT&T does not want to give us the option to turn off this marketing without limiting other capabilities.  This marketing and this conversation really erodes my DirecTV brand loyalty and changing my opinion of wanting DirecTV to cutting the cord.

There is no way to pick and choose advertisements, regardless if on the individual channels or TV provider's screen saver. We as consumers receive whatever advertisements come through the TV.

The protection plan is optional always has been the humans that say you have to have it are announcing it for the fee.  AFAIK there may be a 1 12 months commitment on the carrier plan earlier than you can cancel.

Yes equipment protection plan is optional. However it has nothing to do with this thread which is about the new advertisement based supervisor. Looks like you may have been trying to respond to someone else.
