Large Print Channel Guide

Does anyone know how to get a large print channel guide or tips and tricks guide?  It says it is available but after calling and speaking to 5 people over 5 days I am getting no where.  Everyone keeps just trying to get me to go to the store (done that 2 stores and they no nothing) or giving me electronic version.   But here is the deal my parents are in their late 70 early 80 and that doe not work for them.  I even tried just taking it to FedEx to have it printed larger but they will not do it because it is copyrighted.  I am more than frustrated.

DirecTV a few years ago stopped producing printed guides upon request and instead have it listed on the website to download and print yourself.

Though there is not one specifically formatted in large print, you can adjust the print settings as needed. Here are the online channel lineups: https://support.directv.com/dtv-programming/360

If by chance they have the Family package: https://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/compare/printablePackageChannels.jsp?packageId=960004&referrer=https://support.directv.com/dtv-programming/3245

Unfortunately this does not address the issue.  The installation was less than 6 weeks ago and at that time Direct TV supplied a Tips and Tricks guide which clearly says inside that alternate formats are available in LARGE PRINT and Braille.  I have spent about 6 hours trying to find a solution for my elderly parents.  I have made about 6 calls to AT&T Direct TV which has resulted in either being told to go to a store or given a link to a PDF link.  I have visited 3 stores 2 in TX and 1 in CA and no such alternate formats are available.  I have had a ~5 long chats with tech support people all to no solution.  The PDF link is also quite stupid because the file is locked so no one can not manipulated the file to font size which can be read by elderly.  I mean the elderly can't not read 6 point Arial, they need like 14 or 16 point font.  To me the solution seems so easy just do it in a large print version.  Because you know what you can't even take original the materials (Channel Guide and Tips & Tricks Guide) to FedEx to get it zoomed or expanded up in size because it is COPYRIGHTED!  Elderly people just want a piece of paper to look up what channel the news comes on or their favorite westerns or the tennis.  With so many channels they can't spend the day surfing channel to channel hunting those channels out.

Shame Shame Shame on Direct TV for being so very callus in the treatment and care of this segment of our society (elderly).  I bet if you look your elderly customers have been with you a long time too bad you do not value them.   I can't recommend Direct TV for the elderly.

Possible that "Tips and Tricks" guide is from a stock of them printed a long time ago that they haven't gone through yet and so is outdated with some information.

Unless they add a large print version on the website in the future, the current option is to pull up the PDF of the package your parents are on and adjust the print settings to print it larger.

Possibly you are not familiar with a PDF but there is NO WAY to adjust a PDF to a larger font.  And it is heavily formatted and even trying to use a full version of ACROBAT to reformat it is a not at all easy because of all the columns.  If it was just a word document it might work.  I even tried converting from PDF to word.  I encourage all who think this is just a walk in the park so to speak to actually give it a shot. I think all will be see the tremendous LOCK Direct TV has place on printed materials for the customer by copyrighting their material and only providing materials in Arial 6 font electronically.  I fully understand Arial 6 font saves paper but really Direct TV would not be paying for the payer because apparently they do not care about elderly or sight impaired individuals and make them pay to print a special version.

You can adjust the size of the entire PDF which of course includes the font.

When you click on the specific package and it pulls up the PDF it should automatically pull up the print options where you can change the scale from shrink to fit up to 200% and even change from portrait to landscape. This will increase the size of the printout, though it may be double sided.

So you can adjust some size settings. Not saying it is the best option, just what is available without cropping the picture and using another program to adjust the size.

I completely agree with Dr Trudy. I work at an assisted living facility that has residents who want cable get direct TV. Absolutely ludicrous that DirecTV does not allow a large print, easy to access channel list for their basic package (or all of their packages for that matter). I just looked up the PDF for all the packages, used the snipping tool to create an image of only the ENTERTAINMENT Package, and increased the size of the file to make the print readable. The resolution is so horrible when I blew it up like this that no one will be able to read it, much less my elderly residents.
