There is no national METV channel. If you are getting it, it’s a local channel. Whether or not one of your local channels is being dropped, no one here can answer. Perhaps your local channel is dropping METV. You should contact the channel owner.
DirecTV doesn't have a METV for everyone. That is carried on a local affiliate channel in some areas.
Check with your local channel owner on what is going on. There is also the possibility that if on a main channel they could be moving it to a sub-channel (which DirecTV doesn't carry).

When a channel has obvious popularity by Neilson, much more so than many other channels carried by DIRECTV , it is only good business sense for DIRECTV to carry it, especially when UVerse, owned by the same group as DIRECTV, has it.
@JAL123 again, although you may feel that DIRECTV should carry METV, an obligation to do so does not exist. If DIRECTV does not include your desirable channels, you have the ability to cancel and look for another provider that meets your needs as a customer. To think of it, DIRECTV would need to carry every METV channel for every market. This would waste space on their satellites and in the end METV is just a sub-channel that almost everyone can receive via an over-the-air (OTA) antenna.
@detuch254 Directv would not have to carry every individual local channel if they could negotiate a national channel. I’m not sure METV’s business model would even go for that, though.
I would also check on the current locals provided, just in case it has been a while since you looked at current availability through DirecTV. Here are their old and new (click locals tab) lookup tools.
