MLB Extra Innings, NBA League Pass and suspended games the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic

Will we be getting a partial refund on our League Pass subscriptions since at least 2 weeks of games will be suspended?

With COVID-19 suspending the start of the MLB 2020 season (i.e. unknown start date), how is DirecTV handling the billing? For example, my MLB package billing starts 3/26/20, but with the season on hold I shouldn't be billed.

When will you notify customers of the MLB charge policy. If we are not seeing

live events, we should not be paying for service until that happens. Please make an

announcement soon, so we can make an informed decision about keeping or cancelling our current MLB subscription. Thank you for your help in addressing this issue. [email scrubbed]

You have to call DirecTV to cancel any services off your account. There was a recent announcement. No refunds at this time since NBA is suspended, not canceled. But of course that could change as it develops.

NBA, NHL and MLS games are suspended for 30 days, but their seasons have not been officially canceled. AT&T is monitoring the situation and will consider refunds or credits when/if appropriate.

MLB currently has delayed the start of the 2020 season by at least two weeks. AT&T will adjust the time period for cancellations based on the new start date.

I’m sure you’ll get the appropriate credit when and if the remaining games are cancelled but certainly not a full refund. Seventy plus percent of the season has been played.

Hi @pcarfagna6,

There are no changes right now for the sports packages. We are actively monitoring what's happening in the sports world, and for all those that are subscribed to these sports packages, we will notify them of anything happening.

Also, you can stay updated with our COVID-19 response page.

The MLB has postponed their season. I need two things. I need to cancel MLB Extra Innings but no one is answering the phone. I also need to get a refund for the MLB Extra Innings charge that was on my March bill.

Same here and I’ve been on hold 2 hours. They figure you’ll give up and just pay for a service you aren’t even getting. Didn’t even prorate the season. Been a customer 20 yrs and this seriously irks me!!!

FYI, finally got through 2 hour 45 minute wait so you have to have the time. ATT agents are handling the calls not a directv agent so they are doing the whole thing phone, internet, directv, etc that’s why the long wait. Took less than 5 minutes and it was done. Good luck!

I have been on hold for 2 hours trying to cancel MLB extra innings since you haven’t prorated the season. I am not paying for extra months of nothing since MLB is postponed until at least July. You’ve cut back staff to ”protect” them, not having chat open, nothing can be done on line and your voice service on the phone is a joke but you still have no problem ripping your customers off.

You automatically charged me for MLB Extra Innings, yet the season has been pushed back due to COVID-19. I was thinking of cancelling before the season started, not sure if I can afford the expense. I can't cancel online and your call center is overwhelmed. What's the point of having a website where you can only add programs, but not cancel programs. I know you like to get people on the phone so you can talk them out of cancelling. This is no way to do business. But I guess that's what you get with AT&T, a monopoly with no heart and no soul.

DTV required you to call to cancel services long before AT&T took over.

The point is that you call and discuss with a live agent so they can find a way to minimize the loss of revenue with not as much removed, swapping to other optional services, or possible temporary discounts (in the old days).

This is how it has been for years before AT&T acquired DirecTV. AT&T is not a monopoly as they are not the only provider in existence. A business is not a person, so of course heart and "soul" doesn't apply. Simple business decision to make profit.

I paid for MLB package, but since there is no baseball season now with no start date planned, can you refund for MLB and I can purchase it if it gets rescheduled? It seems wrong to pay for it up front with no baseball season.

I recently went online to pay my Directv bill, and noticed that I am being charged for my first payment of the Directv MLB Xtra Innings Package. At a time when companies, large and small, are waiving late fees, extending due dates, and doing everything they can to help their loyal customers; I found it appalling that Directv chose the opposite route. You are fully aware that the baseball is postponed indefinitely, yet you charged all of your customers for their MLB subscriptions anyhow, probably hoping they wouldn't notice amidst all the chaos. It was a blatant money grab. I will being paying my bill minus the $45.99 charge, I suggest everyone else does the same.

There is an added charge on our account (1 of 6) for MLB Extra Innings 2020. With the MLB season postponed and possibly canceled, will our account be credited for the months in which no baseball is played? Thank you.

MLB season has not been canceled. Only postponed. If they cancel or shorten the season, you should get a credit.
