MLB Extra Innings, NBA League Pass and suspended games the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic

Will we be getting a partial refund on our League Pass subscriptions since at least 2 weeks of games will be suspended?

Why are we getting billed for a service that AT&T (Direct TV) can't even provide?

The season hasn't been canceled only postponed. Until then it is still billed as normal. You have to call to cancel but with call centers close and the ones that remain being under staffed wait times are 2 hours plus.

@bud714,
"why is there no response to this question"

Because this isn't customer service it's a public customer to customer forum.

Since I cannot get a response on the phone and "chat" is not working . maybe someone at the ATT/DirectTV wshould be reviewing these comments and responding.

RIGHT ????

New Member

Agreed! Besides if the season is postponed so should the billing!

I have the MLB which has taken 1 of 6 installments in past month bill. Where we have no baseball why are our installments not being put on hold until it returns? It is unfair to charge folks for a service we aren't getting not to mention the fact that many are out of work and can't afford the bills.

Their system is not designed to delay installments. It charges at the same time as directed by MLB.

As of right now:

NBA, NHL and MLS games are suspended for 30 days, but their seasons have not been officially canceled. AT&T is monitoring the situation and will consider refunds or credits when/if appropriate.

MLB currently has delayed the start of the 2020 season by at least two weeks. AT&T will adjust the time period for cancellations based on the new start date.

So the time to opt out has been extended. But paying is as normal. This is the status until any further updates from the leagues.

Hello - I am being charged for MLB extra innings but there are no games being played right now. Is there a plan to credit peoples accounts?

Since it is impossible to get someone on the phone, and we have to get ahold of someone by phone to cancel by April 2, can you please update us on what is happening with the charges with our MLB subscription?

Until games are cancel MLB will not offer any refunds so billing will continue. AFAIK until MLB sets a date to resume you can cancel.

It clearly states on the statement that you can cancel your automatic MLB subscription before April 2. That is what I am referring to. You can't get ahold of anyone to do that.

What is DirecTV doing about those who are paying for MLB Insider when there is no baseball?
Will we be credited for charges in March?
Will we just get a credit each month or do we need to cancel this until baseball season actually starts due to COVID19?
I tried calling but on hold forever!

They are actively monitoring developments with the suspension of the MLB & NBA seasons and will proactively communicate with MLB Extra Innings subscribers and NBA League Pass subscribers regarding potential refunds/credits as events develop.

As all sports are NULL and VOID these days, I would hope DIRECTV would give us a refund for all who get charged for "sports packages" .

I wanted to know if Directv is going to apply paid sports packages to our account for next year's season being that we don't have any sports this year and can't watch them

At the moment sports are delayed, not canceled. So no changes to billing or getting free for next year.

IF seasons are canceled, then you get a refund for the current year, not free for next year. If the seasons are shortened, then adjustments would be likely. But will not no for sure until that happens.

NBA, NHL and MLS games are suspended for 30 days, but their seasons have not been officially canceled. AT&T is monitoring the situation and will consider refunds or credits when/if appropriate.

In light of having to watch reruns instead of the Masters, NCAA Tourney, NBA,etc during the Pandemic, there should be a dramatic reduction in my DIRECTV charge until normal programming is reinstated. My other interest, News, is now 90% regurgitation of Pandemic facts, not "news" or updates. Every other facet of life has been affected and people & companies are making some painful adjustments, why hasn't AT&T/DirecTV followed suit? We are not getting what we're paying for by a long shot!

Will someone remove charges from baseball package being that the season has been cancelled.

Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation originally titled Baseball Package

I feel ya. I am on hold, once again, to have these charges removed. Second time I have tried! The first time I tried to call, I gave up after being on hold for 3 hours! Seriously. I wish there was a way to cancel premium channels online.

The season has not been cancelled yet. If you don't want to pay now, you need to call and cancel. You can always re-add when and if the season starts. Once they officially cancel or shorten the season or whatever they are going to do, I'm sure appropriate credits will be issued then for those that don't cancel.

@KShurot

Baseball season is not canceled. They have only canceled the London Series, between Cardinals and Cubs, for June 13 and 14 at this time.

So if/when MLB would actually cancel the entire season, then a reversal of installments would occur. Until then, billing as normal until further direction from MLB.

I am not paying this charge.....

MLB currently has delayed the start of the 2020 season by at least two weeks. AT&T will adjust the time period for cancellations based on the new start date.

So if you don't want to pay the charge you have to call DirecTV to opt out. Only if the actual season is canceled by MLB will they do anything automatically. An individual series (i.e. London Series for Cardinals and Cubs) being canceled, does not currently change billing.

No baseball - but we're being billed $30.50 per month x 6. Tried to call, held on for nearly an hour and then was booted off due to "circumstances beyond our control".

Has anyone else called about this cash grab?

Thanks
