Now I am having trouble with my Direct TV

I don't know why they give you a 800-531-5000 to call if you have an error code 771, because it's not for Direct TV problems. The Direct TV number for customer service is 888-388-4249. I am so tired of getting a run around from them. If it's not the Internet it's the Direct TV  of theirs. I am so done with them.

Because that is the DTV direct number to call to avoid the AT&T transfer marry go round.

That 5000 number IS the DirecTV (not Direct TV) number. Hasn't changed in decades. There is also the AT&T number (not that second number you posted) as they are the new owners of DirecTV. But it is still suggested to call the normal number as transfers between the two do not have a good track record.

However that post does nothing to resolve any issue. If you were to post full details of your problem then perhaps other users could help find a fix.

What are the models of your boxes?

Do they each have the error or just certain ones?

Besides error 771 do you have any other errors or symptoms?

What troubleshooting (if any) have you tried? (be specific please).

Oh wait, this is a duplicate thread. Instead of creating multiple threads for the same issue, stick to one and provide the details. Otherwise any help you might get is lost among all the different threads.
