OAN network

Can you tell me why this despicable propagandist organization appears on you network? It's nothing more than a Fox right wing wanna be.

Here's an example: https://twitter.com/justinbaragona/status/1266078224058134529

This is not journalism. This is propaganda for a unpopular government.

Because a content provider bundle it into their channel package. DTV can only pick the package they believe is best for their customers.

@shannon02 Thank you for your quick response. Then my next question is...who is DTV content provider? In my hubble opinion, this is NOT the best package for their customers.

You get a variety of news channels, a variety of perspectives. It is up to you which ones you watch. The TV providers will not censor the channel because you disagree with it's perspective on journalism. Remember there are many other viewers who would probably say the same about your chosen news outlet.

So tune to the channels you want, and ignore the ones you don't.

@Juniper I appreciate your opinion. But this is not the issue of choice. It's an issue of clarity and truth. Have you watched OAN? Did you find any of their stories misleading? My complaint is a valid complaint.

You can block the channel on your list. Do you know how to do that???

As said, "Don't watch it!" Pretty simple in MY MIND!

As is so often the case in open forums there are individuals that think they're funny. Your not. I expressed my dissatisfaction to OAN because of their lack of journalistic integrity.

If you have something of a solution besides your snide remark I'd be happy to read it. Pretty simple in MY MIND equals nothing more than a childish remark. No thanks.

Nobody watches or likes every channel in their package. There are a variety of news, entertainment, sports, religious, etc. channels. We like some, not so much others, and some we may greatly dislike.

But it is not the TV providers job to make the decision for us. They provide a variety of channels. It is up to each of us as individuals to chose what we watch or don't, even setting a custom favorites list to hide what we don't personally watch.

This is a matter of choice as you are wanting to take away the choice of others because you don't like the channel. Some people watch multiple news channels and make their own decisions taking into account all the different perspectives.

Many people were upset that OAN wasn't on DirecTV and were pleased it finally became available like it was on other AT&T platforms. So there are others in the country who do watch and enjoy it and do not deserve to have it censored because you disagree with it.

TV provider gives variety. Individuals choose what they watch, but do not mandate what the rest of us are allowed to watch.

Viacom, Time Warner, Disney, Sony, ABC, NBC, CBS the list goes on anyone that makes and distributes programs each owns some channels so DTV and all other providers have separate contracts with them all.

@shannon02 Yes I understand the individual media conglomorates. I appreciate your comments. I'll take my complaint directly to AT&T. This forum has already shown me that at least two of the commenters don't grasp the problem of OAN.

For every person such as yourself that is appalled at the content on OANN, there is someone who takes it as gospel.

Don't mess with old people.  The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

You don't like OAN and that is fair, and many others probably share your opinion. But you do not speak to the entire country. As long as there are enough people wanting the channel, then the TV providers will continue to see about renewing the carriage agreement when the current one ends.

@theheata From what I’ve heard of oan, I would agree with you but trying to get it removed from Directv is a waist of your time. Good luck, you’ll need it.

Even if they wanted to drop it they can't as that breaches their contact with the content providers.

They have an agreement to carry OAN on DirecTV for so long. The channel came to DirecTV because many people wanted it. That outweighs your not wanting it.

I agree. This bottom-feeding network passes off conspiracy theories that lead the President to slander good people. I would love to see OAN banned from AT&T TV.

All that matters is how popular a channel is. TV providers will provide a variety of content and expect that people will be competent to only tune into the channels they have that they want to watch.

Here's an idea: Put your money where your mouth is. Complain to the companies that are running commercials on OANN.

Networks stay on the air because of income. Income comes from commercials. Commercials run to attract customers. No customers, no money. No money, no network.

Don't mess with old people.  The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

OAN is not news, nor is it entertainment, it is racist right wing propaganda, and ATT should be shamed and embarrassed for carrying this disgusting network.  For those that say "people have a choice of their news source", this is a garbage and disrespectful response.  OAN has no journalistic ethics and should not be able to call themselves a "news" org. I will be cancelling shortly.  ATT, if you continue carrying this network, you will be on the wrong side of history, and we will not forget.

Saying people have a choice is neither garbage, nor disrespectful. There was huge demand for the channel, so it came to DirecTV like it has other providers.

If you don't like the channel fine. If you choose to cancel your service while the channel is here, though perhaps an overreaction it is your choice. There are many others who enjoy the channel and will continue watching.

So DirecTV/AT&T gives us a variety of channels, our choice what we watch. So not censoring channels, instead giving us the mature choice to decide what we do or do not watch, is the side of history they are on.

It is not up to AT&T, DirecTV, or any other TV provider to label a news network as "fictional". You watch what news sources you trust and go from there. TV providers simply rebroadcast the content as is, they do not manage the programming or add labels to them based on individual opinions.

Well then other individuals call the other new channels a collection of lies. Some believe the religion channels are promoting lies. Should AT&T label those as fiction? Understand the reality that TV providers do not control or promote what is on the channels. They provide us a variety, we as mature individuals make our own decisions from the different views available on what we believe is "fiction" or not.

AT&T is not a network so has no responsibility for the content of OAN or any other channel (news or otherwise). They are a provider, a delivery method. They do not control, own, or regulate the content.

Take it up with those reporting news that you disagree with and believe are lies. TV providers are just going to provide channels that are highly desired by many customers regardless of your individual opinion.

Free Speech doesn't forbid or censor what we are allowed to say. If someone was walking up to you and forcing it in your face is one thing, but with TV you can JUST CHANGE THE CHANNEL.

i hope you always allow for oan news to be on your channel list. If people do not want to watch it they do not have to turn it on. Everyone knows that you are not responsible for their news content. Please do not let trolls and bots keep you from offering a channel that your customers want and pay for.

OAN is pure right wing (Edited per community guidelines).  This network does not deserve a single view for the blatantly false misinformation it promotes.  Did you know the network has a news anchor, Kristian Brunovich Rouz who currently works for the Russian (Edited per community guidelines) outlet and news agency Sputnik AND One America News??? It should be a red flag for every single one of us in this country that we have long let the enemy right into our front doors.

When your content promotes blatantly false information that DOES get minorities killed, your "right" to "FREE SPEECH" goes out the window.  The first amendment applies to GOVERNMENT censorship of content.  It says nowhere in the first amendment that private entities can't moderate their own platform.  Which by the way, the largely already do moderate their own content.

The only reason why AT&T,  does not do anything about taking far right, racist, (Edited per community guidelines) networks down is because it is not CONVENIENT for them.  The advertisers, the cable TV networks, all do have the power to stop this kind of misinformation, they just simply choose not to because it is not convenient.

Anyone who tells you otherwise is wrong.

Again, Anyone who tells you otherwise is wrong.

Oh, and by the way, COMCAST does not allow OAN on there network.  Because people ALL they at the top of Comcast running the company have morals about (Edited per community guidelines) injustice.  AT&T, be like Comcast, have morals.

And ALSO, I am glad AT&T is currently not getting any of my money and I will make sure they never do.
