AT&T/DirecTV decided from an "internal review" that they were not going to renew the carriage agreement. So once the current agreement ended then OANN went away. There are beliefs/theories, both on the forum and elsewhere, that this was encouraged by outside influence.

It was removed because the contract expired and Directv chose not to renew it.
