(Server)

(Server) Records content not requested by anyone in our home. I have deleted the content. The undesirable series and shows are not listed in upcoming recordings or anywhere in recording manager. Any solutions or ideas are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I also rebooted the server just by pushing the red reset button. Problem persists I’m considering unplugging the server for a half an hour and plugging back in. Thank you.

By "server" do you mean HS17 Genie Tower?

Could anyone nearby be connected to the same WiFi as you?

I don’t have a tower. It’s a DirecTV 200gb six channel DVR. When I say [Server] I mean that [Server] appears in some not all My Library, Recented Recorded Series that I did not record.

Thank you.

DTV doesn't make a 6 channel DVR 2,5,7 tuners/channels nor one with a 200GB hard drive AFAIK 380 GB was the smallest made.

DirecTV has no box that is 200GB or 6 tuners/channels. So are you sure you have them or perhaps something else like Dish Network (which has Hopper and Joeys), U-Verse, etc.?

If DirecTV, then what is the model of box you have?

Regular HDDVRs have 2 tuners and 500GB, with HR22 and earlier having 320GB.

Genie (HR34 and up) have 5 tuners and 1TB.

Genie-2 (HS17) has 7 tuners and 2TB (though hard limit unlike all other setups).

Do you live in an apt/condo with DTV provided?

Ok you have the Genie (HR54 is the 3rd generation). So you've got 5 tuners and that 1TB drive (much larger than 200GB). That is the "server" for any Mini Genie Clients.

You've got shows recording that you haven't done and nobody at home is admitting to. The next possibility is service bleeding over. Though not an apt/condo, do you have a setup where your dish is shared with any other DirecTV customer? Do you share your internet access with someone who has DirecTV?

If you have other DVRs, have you checked to see if the shows are actually recording on them? Naturally Mini Genies are just Clients so share everything the main Genie has.

Have you logged into the DirecTV app on a device not currently in your control (phone, streaming box, "smart" TV of a friend, family member, or even hotel/motel while traveling)? Either way, you may want to change your password if they are being scheduled from the app.

For shows to record they have to be done with the remote or by logging in (website/app). Not listed in recording manager than I wonder if they are manual recordings (pressing the record button when browsing the guide for example).

Before unplugging power from the Genie which clears the cached memory, and causes guide to rebuild (within 24-48hrs) perhaps try re-pairing the remote to it. Just in case a communication issue. I would also check to make sure the record button doesn't seem stuck or perhaps very touchy.

If you do a reset on the Genie, make sure to do so with any other boxes. Whether doing a simple red button reset, or a full power cycle, make sure to do one at a time (plug back in if full power cycle) in a specific order: Genie > Mini Genie > HDDVR > HD non-DVR (disregard types you don't have of course).
